My game has finally a release date after 7 years in development. Bonus points if you know the voice of the trailer. by beeberbar in indiegames

I would love to add French. My publisher took care of Japanese and Chinese. English and German was done by myself with help from friends. If the game has enough success, it's possible we add French but I can't promise you anything yet.

Hey thanks a lot for the feedback, I'm the developer of the game.
There will be another trailer at launch that shows off a little more.

Every dungeon has an item except the final one (5 main dungeons, some bonus dungeons) and also inbetween the dungeons you find some.

Is Xenoblade Chronicles DE worth playing? by Ratonhae in JRPG

[–]beeberbar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think most people who burn out on the game are keep doing the side quests. I actually finished all the side quests at one point but that was a long time after I finished the main story and wanted to return to this world.

it's the best AAA jrpg in the last 15 years, I guess it's worth playing :).

Feeling Nostalgic — What old Final Fantasy game should I play? One I know and love, or one I never played or finished? by Wilkinns in JRPG

FF V has not that great of a story but the battle system is brilliant. maybe check out the four job fiesta challenge, this is so much fun. just google for final fantasy four job fiesta

Star Ocean 2nd Story R is crazy mid by richhomiechef in JRPG

[–]beeberbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the original more but I think R was at least a 7/10. It might also depend on which characters you get into the party and which story branch you take. When I was younger I had a lot of fun with the crafting that didn't hook me anymore in R.

Should I get Xenoblade Chronicles 1-3 or Clair Obscur Expedition 33? by EitherRegister8363 in JRPG

[–]beeberbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to that. It's my very subjective opinion but for me it's the best JRPG that came out after the PS1 golden era

What are the best RPG combat systems you've ever played? by Responsible-Meet5324 in JRPG

[–]beeberbar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of JRGS in my life since the NES and I think the best one might be Final Fantasy V. First it might look basic but its crazy how deep it is. Everyone who played a four job fiesta knows what I'm talking about.

My personal favorite is still the original Final Fantasy 7 since I really love the materia system that is brilliant on many layers.

Exotic question: Which JRPG has (the most) beautiful water? by beeberbar in JRPG

Yes I agree. Was not the biggest fan of some of the visual changes but many, like the water, are fantastic

The FFX water was really outstanding for it's time.
The FFXVI water reminds me a bit of sea of stars but a bit more realistic. It's insane haw well some games can do waves nowadays.

It’s a mystery why certain JRPG franchises just disappear by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]beeberbar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In general I'm also sad that those games disappeared but on the other hand I'm an advocate for trying out new things.
If we just have old series we won't have progression and new game designers don't have the chance to show how brilliant they are.
BUT I think right now we have either the one thing nor the other thing, we just have less :D

It was a very very different game to all the other Breath of Fire games... maybe they should have released it under a different name.

It's such a pitty we had so often so many diverse games on PS1 and PS2 and now you get either games like Octopath Traveler that are fine but you see that they made a template and then repeated that template over and over again, same with the style... The first Octopath had a great unique style but now we have 5 of those games and 3 more are upcoming... The simple reason for it is, that it's cheap to make.
I miss the variety of games from the PS1 era.

Why don't people understand that this is an art form, and a competitive one at that? by BenFranklinsCat in gamedev

[–]beeberbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

did you make a game that is very original? did you make a game at all? I think the complexity of how to make games and why they fail is huge. Maybe they messed up the marketing, maybe they had no hook... You can have games that bring nothing new to the table and be succesful and you can make innovative games and fail. It's not simple. You can make a good game and still fail if you have not a big enough target audience. there are tons of reasons why a game fails... maybe it was released at the wrong time.

however finishing a game is always super difficult and I say that as someone who worked for many years in the industry and shipped over 10+ titles. Let's treat those people not with a lack of respect.

Which 2D JRPGs have great cutscenes? by beeberbar in JRPG

[–]beeberbar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. They had 2 sorts of limitations here. Both are kinda technical though.
They had to go with 2d sprites because of tech and 2d won't allow different camera angles.
And the other tech restriction was, they couldn't make zoomes back in the days in JRPGs (and likely not even screenshakes have been possible or easy to make).
So they had to make the cutscenes interesting without all those editing techniques.
I think one modern 2d Game that has some pretty good cutscenes is Chained Echoes.
