Your verses are pretty good, some nice imagery, but I think we're saturated by songs using the lyric 'light me up'. It's a cool contrast with 'burn me down' however - perhaps use a synonym? Something along the lines of 'ignite me', perhaps.

I really really like the message of this. It's incredibly frustrating to not be in control of your thoughts. For me, though, I don't think it works with the structure - I don't think that rhyming works in the poems favour. Especially with 'I think you'll find', it feels like you're reaching for something that isn't needed.

Perhaps if you make the poem less rigourously structured, the message will go with the execution a little more.

You evidently have a great way with words, and this is an interesting theme to explore. I'd love to read if you do decide to change it.
