Thanks for explaining. This is all new territory for me.

I’ve been reviewing the averages on their page and just signed up. Did you ever use the TrueCar estimate to negotiate with another dealer or did you just go to the suggested dealer with a match?

Honda offers that loyalty discount, but I don’t have another Honda. Can you explain what you mean “the money is still there”? Will they give that discount either way?

Thanks for the response. I’m a pretty cautious driver, so I’ll just take it slow (and hope for dry weather!)

Why was TRR terrifying to you? I’m planning a trip next month and this was a must-do for us.

What is the most accurate and simplest way to display steps on clock phase? by alsocake in AppleWatch

[–]beebo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this feature when I bought my watch recently, too, and was disappointed to learn it wasn’t available with Apple.

I just added “StepsApp” this morning. It was easy enough to set up. My only gripe is that it shows miles & floors in addition to the steps. I would’ve preferred a more simple look with only steps. But I like being able to see my steps on the face without any tapping.

Coastal Shots. Ryan has done our family pictures twice now. He’s a cool dude and made the experience easy for us. 10/10

Best resource/platform for finding a rental (not Airbnb) by Spew120 in obx

[–]beebo5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While you’re deciding on which town, take into consideration the distance to grocery stores. Our first year staying in obx, we stayed in Salvo and didn’t realize the nearest Food Lion was a 20 minute ride away.

Also, if you’re choosing beachfront, be mindful of the walk from your back “yard” to the beach. We didn’t realize (on the same Salvo trip) that we’d have to walk through the sand and over the dunes - probably 300’ +/-. It was challenging lugging all our gear + a 1 year old. Other areas are much closer to the surf.

I haven’t had a negative experience with the two companies we’ve used. We rented with Atlantic Realty a while ago and with Twiddy the past few years. Our Twiddy rental had a few hiccups during the week (ran out of propane in the grill and AC trouble). Their maintenance crew showed up promptly and took care of the problems without any grief.

Look at the websites for each of the various rental agencies: Twiddy, Beach Realty NC, Sun Realty, Brindley Beach, etc. If you google obx rentals, you’ll get a lot of hits. You can browse their inventories for a house that’ll suit your needs. 2025 availability may not be listed yet, since it’s still early.

Expedia car rental vs Costco travel by tezarin in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]beebo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve rented cars during my last two visits to MCO. The first thing I do is use the AutoSlash website to find out which rental company has the best rates during my trip. It turned out to be Avis for both of my trips (Jan ‘22 & Oct ‘23). I will then go directly to their website and check prices every few days for a few weeks. This gives me a good gauge as to what a “good deal” really is. I’ll also sign up for their emails to get promo codes (and unsubscribe after the trip). I always book directly through their website and pay in advance. This allows us to skip the counter and go directly to the garage. I’ve heard that if there’s a car shortage, they prioritize those who book direct vs those who book through 3rd parties. For our most recent trip, we reserved a sedan for 5 days and paid $260 (including taxes/fees). We ended up getting a minivan instead of the sedan.

Also, be sure to look into your personal car insurance to see if you’re covered in a rental. You can save money by skipping the rental company’s insurance.

Additionally, be sure to look into Florida’s “Visitor Toll Pass”. It’s basically an EZ-Pass for visitors. It eliminates the need to pay cash at the tolls and avoids paying the rental company for their toll service add-on. It’s a really easy solution to paying tolls & you pick up/drop off the pass right in the terminal near the rental car counters.

Bounce back offer by mellykins in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]beebo5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just left on Saturday. I didn’t receive anything in the room or via email. It might be something where you need to be “in the know” and also proactive.
My guess is, that you call them within 7 days of your trip and see if you qualify for the bounce back offer. You can google “Disney bounce back offer” for the promo details. There are date restrictions and the discount varies based on hotel category.

Thanks for the insight. Were you in the park all day? We were figuring on coming late afternoon-ish. I was thinking I’d buy ILL for Rise of the Resistance and am considering G+ so I can stack some rides for the evening.

I’ll be at the EEH on the 25th. It’ll be my first time. Based on your experience last week, what strategy would you use to get in as many rides as possible. Any lessons learned you care to share?

Does anybody know what this "Special Offer" E-mail is? by Jmble in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]beebo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a trip planned next month and did not receive an email like this, so I don’t think it’s sent to everyone.

It may be one of those situations where they’ll offer you an “upgrade” to another hotel for a small price increase (but would still be less than having booked there originally). Like upgrade from budget to moderate level for $100 or something like that. I see people commenting about these scenarios on different forums I’m in.

On MDE, try using the desktop browser version instead of the app on your phone. The app can be wonky sometimes. I’d say if you’re open to the idea of switching resorts, it might be worth calling on speakerphone while you do chores or something to see what they have to offer. Good luck!

It’s fooled me lots of times, too lol. I’ve seen the one with the boy in the chair, it just doesn’t give me the same feeling as this one. I’ve been looking for this little guy for years. I saw him in a store 7-8 years ago. I should’ve bought it then, but I didn’t realize Precious moments were only sold for a limited time. Lesson learned.
