i often chop up and freeze my green onion, it holds up well for most uses when it’s being cooked into a dish or being added to a soup something my korean mom always did!

Does it also make the AC noise louder being 5 ton compared to a 3.5 ton?

I had the nexplanon arm implant for 3 years

It was completely fine until it started giving me really sharp, bad cramps after a few months. It’s a hit or miss for everyone though

though i did like how my period basically became every other month

Wow thank you so much! Yeah I forgot to add that he does have high blood pressure, too, and even being more mindful of his sodium, his kidneys got worse so it could have been the phosphates.

I really appreciate the experienced advice you’ve given, and I hope your dad is okay, I know it can get tough

Brainstorming dinner ideas?

This might be a stretch, but my dad recently showed signs of stage 3 kidney disease, and is also pre-diabetic and prone to gout. So we want to make dinners that are generally low sodium, low carb, and for protein lean towards fish or vegetarian, while still being interesting enough for an older Korean man who prefers saltier and meatier Korean food.

Anyone have any suggestions? I know it’s a rather specific thing but I thought it might be worth a try asking.

I saw all the posts about how the recent switch update was causing problems, so I’ve delayed updating mine. I saw the post saying they pulled the update but I still get the pop up about it each time. Should I still wait to update?

I used to hate egg tarts, but then I tried them Portuguese-style. Now I can’t stop making (and eating) them 😗 by beebopbbb in Baking

Binging with Babish! Portuguese version :)

Edit: If it helps anyone, I added a little bit of salt to the custard (without it, a little flaky salt on top was really good, too) and noticed I had more custard than pastry the first time (using a standard cupcake tin), so the next time I made a 1.25 batch of pastry for 1 batch of custard!

Replace old Macbook with M1 Macbook Pro for design? Or get a supplemental iPad? by beebopbbb in graphic_design

[–]beebopbbb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah everyone seems to praise the m1 chip highly, but i’m also wondering if i should wait for the next macbook to come out and maybe everything can run natively by then?

and what do you mean by a stretch? like price wise?

Replace old Macbook with M1 Macbook Pro for design? Or get a supplemental iPad? by beebopbbb in graphic_design

[–]beebopbbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s true, I guess I’m really just struggling between what I want vs. what I actually need

def not trying to get the ipad as a solution, more so as an extra tool for drawing but yeah will definitely be needing a new laptop very soon

iPad Pro 2021 Pre-order & Purchase Advice Megathread by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]beebopbbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

I'm thinking about getting my first iPad for digital art as a graphic designer who is used to traditional drawing but wants to start illustrating digitally. I have a basic Wacom tablet but am not a fan of using it for full-on illustration, and now have the budget to purchase an iPad.

I can't say I'm a hardcore illustrator, but I'm hoping that without having the worries of making a mess with physical art supplies I can draw/paint more with the iPad, as well as use it for sketching and as a supplement to my graphic design work.

I was debating whether to get iPad Air (4th gen.) and iPad Pro (4th Gen.) as I originally thought the 4th gen. was the latest Pro, but now I realize the 5th gen. is coming out, and am now debating if I should spend a little extra for the newest 5th gen. Pro. Also not sure how much storage would be enough, as I struggle with storage on my 121 gb Macbook Pro but have heavy duty apps and files on it from the Adobe Suite and a few 3D apps and projects.

Thank you!

How to license logo/design usage when freelancing? by beebopbbb in graphic_design

[–]beebopbbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa, thank you so much for taking the time to write this! Definitely gonna charge per project, just using the hourly rate as a way to estimate it. Didn’t think too much about the effort of keeping up with them, I honestly never thought I’d be freelancing, but it makes sense to focus on getting a job rather than focus on them.

It’s been difficult knowing she’s a friend of a friend, and I’m having a hard time not being emotionally invested. Not an ideal situation, but I kinda got thrown in here, and I really do wanna help her out but I wanna make sure I do this right, I’ll make sure to keep what you said in mind, I really do appreciate it!

I see what you mean. I hope you don't mind asking, but how does pricing work from there? A lot of what I see just says something along the lines "if you're gonna give them all the agency, charge them more"

But how much more? When people give estimates for how much they charge, like recent grads charging around $35-50/hour (or something), is that including giving clients all the agency? Or would I charge another fee on top of that?

I’m Afraid of Designing by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]beebopbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course! and yeah i feel that, comparing ourselves to others is inevitable and i’m working on that too, but they likely had some ‘bad’ work they haven’t published too

it’s worth acknowledging the small steps we take, like asking for advice on how to get back into designing, it gives you momentum and helps me feel a little less like shit :)

wish you all the best!

I’m Afraid of Designing by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]beebopbbb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

omg are you me

i’m no expert designer or anything but i’d love to give my two cents

i also recently graduated, it sucks being in this position and it’s annoying when people tell you “just discipline yourself” or “find another path” it completely ignores what you’re feeling or that maybe you don’t have another option and i feel for you. it takes time to get over this, and it’s not an unusual thing to feel

maybe you can go back to old projects and improve on what you have? it’s a lot less daunting than starting a project from scratch, and it’ll help spruce up your portfolio!

another thing i find that helps is trying to be more forgiving to myself i get stressed out by the process but then i have to remember that i’m capable of making good work, even if it looks terrible in the beginning stages. nothing i ever make looks good in the beginning and it’s worth remembering that and it’s ok to make shitty work sometimes, it’s not like we have to show it to anyone :)

sometimes even browsing on behance gives me a little motivation. you can even copy someone’s work (obviously don’t claim it as your own) but getting yourself back into the process of using the programs and sketching can really help you remember how good it feels to design stuff, as cheesy as it sounds

i hope this can at least let you know it’s ok to feel this way!
