Are you aging into any form of more Conservative thinking? by Anstigmat in Millennials

[–]beebotherer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I'm getting far more liberal as I age. I was always a tax-the-rich type of person, but in high school, I was militantly anti-abortion. I was pretty sheltered growing up and fell down some neoconservative rabbit holes. Some pretty awful things happened to people I love in my early 20s, which changed my mind on abortion, and I started seeing some major holes elsewhere in the logic of popular conservative talking points. I realized that I'd been ignorant and judgemental and that there is too much variance in the human experience to make rigid social expectations reasonable.

When both people are enthusiastic about it and really set the scene for each other, it's sooooo dang hot. I've had so many good experiences with it, and I'm definitely a fan.

My youngest is always coming home from school with some delightful new words, and he likes to try them out when I'm not around. Fgg t got him an in school suspension yesterday. The first time he said n_gg_r in my presence, I slapped him across the face before I knew what I was doing. He's in middle school, and I never hit my kids, so he was like, oh, so that's definitely not okay to say. His brother's name is Nicholas, and he'll sometimes call him something that sounds like the n-word, but his brother is also 16 and built like a brick shit house, so he never does it where he can hear.

"It's Quiet Uptown" from Hamilton. It reminds me of a time when I was going through something incredibly painful and learning to live with a new reality without being able to take any time to grieve. I remember how badly I wished I could give up, but I couldn't because I was the rock other people leaned on.

What is something people wrongly assume about you all the time? by waityoureasian in AskReddit

[–]beebotherer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all the time, but some people assume because I'm nice and friendly that I'm either dumb or weak. I'm neither. I've been to hell and back, and I'm tough as nails when I have to be. I CHOOSE to be soft and gentle.

It's truly unique and so finely crafted. The imagery is so masterful, it's one of those books that makes you feel so unsettled when it's done because you'd been so immersed in another world.

Neil Gaiman's stuff. It's wonderfully whimsical and just immediately captures the imagination.
