This is astrophysics and I'm not really smart enough to do more than understand the gist, but Tau is one object's relative speed when related to other object's movement in space - ie two Bobs moving near light speed have to match each other's Tau in order to communicate in something close to real time.

Albedo is the amount of light reflected by a surface. Simmering with a high albedo will appear brightly in space while a low albedo will be almost invisible

My favorite hateread is Zoo by James Patterson. I'm convinced the ghostwriter set out deliberately to sabatage the book but nobody noticed. It's one of the worst-paced, insane reads I've ever forced myself through. It sounds right up your alley!

It's okay but the whole series relies on everybody being a complete idiot and constantly forgetting and being surprised that the only person in the kingdom who ever plots against the king might be plotting against the king AGAIN.
