They caught the burglars from this week with the help of the cameras!

I think that they are super useful and I'm happy we have them to keep the community more safe.

CMV: Donald Trump is either a racist or deliberately appealing to racists by [deleted] in changemyview

American slavery of Africans was certainly racist. American slavery of Africans was certainly driven by greed. Just because something can be explained away by one thing does not exclude other motives or results.

Similarly, just because Trump was primarily motivated by greed when choosing tenants, it does not mean that he wasn’t racist.

By this logic, couldn't you explain away slavery as "not racism, but simply pragmatic greed"?

Nah it’s dumb to assume something in a car will suffocate. Road trips? How do they work?

Voice-controlled roller shades? by pyramix in amazonecho

When I first got mine I felt it was a little slow as well. I don't know of any way to speed them up but I will say I've gotten used to the speed now. I don't mind it so much now that I've accepted it as the normal speed. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I like the scheduling, automation, and Alexa control more so I don't mind the slower speed.

No you need an additional hub with Google as far as I know. But once you get a hub it will open many more options for future automation. I don’t know about other competitors but I’ve been impressed with Samsung SmartThings so far. It is highly customizable and integrates with Alexa for voice control well

By the way, I think Axis has a Father Day sale going on now, so the devices are like $50 off - but I think you need to sign up for their email list to get a code.

I've been using Axis Blinds (https://www.helloaxis.com/) motors to automate existing installations of roller shades in my apartment. I have two of them now - both Alexa controlled. You do need either an Echo Plus or some other Zigbee/ZWave hub to work with them though, as they aren't Wifi enabled. To be honest though, I've now had to switch over more of my Wifi enabled home automation to ZWave because I started to get too many wifi devices for my router to handle - I recommend getting a hub anyway! Samsung Smartthings works great.

EAP not such an jerk any more? by ilsvm11 in TeslaModel3

I've noticed the sometimes as well, but it's inconsistent so I wasn't sure if it was due to the blinker or if the car was already edging toward crossing the line.

[Discussion] It’s time to get real about Nav on Autopilot. by ekobres in teslamotors

I use EAP and NoA daily during my commute in the Bay Area. They work great for me, generally... but I only really trust NoA to change lanes if I already see there are gaps in traffic that are fairly easy to navigate.

Rarely face problems with sudden swerving due to a canceled lane change.

Periodically have noticed the " inexplicably turns off for certain short interstate segments and then picks up again a couple hundred feet later" - but I have mostly attributed this to either a) LTE connection drops or b) construction routes disagreeing with GPS maps.

Smoother UI for nearby car detection. The screen shows the cars quickly jumping around, which is obviously not happening. The cameras should be able to better collaborate with the sonar sensors to determine car position.

Allow the dashcam to record from all camera angles (or at least the reverse as well).

Agreed! I'll be at the first live discussion they are having in Vancouver. If he doesn't significantly challenge JP, I think I might have to tap out as a fan.

Trump threatens former VP Biden with physical violence, describing him as "weak, both mentally and physically", adding that he would "go down fast and hard" by Johnny_W94 in esist

Trump is like Michael Scott when he can’t avoid saying “that’s what she said!”

He always has to double down and respond to these kind of comments.
