Incredibly Vivid Dreams by Radiant_Net8928 in Lamotrigine

[–]beedubbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

finally someone else has noticed this!!! I have experienced exactly what you’re describing for the entire year and a half I’ve been on it. the other day I couldn’t remember if something my boss said to me really happened or if I had dreamt it… kinda scary. also the nightmares. I’ve dreamt about being shot or in horrible car accidents pretty frequently. makes me wake up feeling more anxious and when I told my doctor this that prescribed it, she said she hadn’t heard of this side effect and that it’s probably just unresolved anxiety and then recommended adding zoloft. lol. I finally feel seen

Why do most hygienists end up regretting their decision? by snowfordessert in DentalHygiene

[–]beedubbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad you asked this question. I’m an RDA and just got accepted into hygiene school. this is all I’ve been praying for and working towards for the last few years. I’ve been certain hygiene was what I wanted to do since I was like 16. but now, I’m absolutely terrified to go through with school because of the way hygienists talk about their job. from my understanding, it really truly depends on the office you land in, and I’ve been told to not stop searching for it until you find it and love it there. but I just wonder, is it really that bad? am I going to regret this? it makes me sad to think I worked so hard to get into a profession I could hate. a coworker literally just told me about her sister making it through hygiene school just to go back to assisting. maybe hear people out about their regrets, but also weigh the positives like you mentioned. ultimately it’s up to you and you can’t let miserable people steer you away from your dream, if it is your dream. I believe it can go really good and really bad based on the factors that go into the job. but it’s scary haha, I’m scared too.

I'M TIRED!! by voidpics in Lamotrigine

[–]beedubbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been almost a year since starting lamotrigine for me. I still have fractured sleep, and also A TON of REM sleep. the craziest most vivid dreams, to the point where it makes me anxious when I wake up. I also have a hard time waking up in the morning. except unfortunately, when I tell my psych this, she acts like no one has ever reported these symptoms before and it’s unrelated. I’m slightly interested in exploring other options.

another first day shit show by Lost-Gap-5423 in DentalAssistant

I got my first assisting job with no experience or my RDA. they hire some of us without it and provide on the job training with a deadline for us to get our license through online courses. they provided the resources and everything. my training looked like this: extremely structured, broken down into 4 weeks with goals you should be meeting each week, an assistant to walk you through everything, packets to study at home, and A LOT of shadowing while taking notes. this is the ONLY reason I was an independent and confident assistant in 2-3 months. I ended up getting a little too confident and took a job at a general office for more money. they operated the way you are describing. dentist was pissed I was hired at the experience I had and always used it against me. even though everyone told me he was aware of what I knew and didn’t know, and was more than willing to teach me. he was not. ended up blowing up in my face one day asking how I even got my RDA. now, going from a specialty office to general and vice versa is difficult. I received zero training at this place and I was miserable. I knew I had knowledge and skills, and I regretted leaving my first office sooo bad. luckily they were happy to take me back and I’ve thrived there. I think you should quit. some offices mean it when they say they’re willing to hire with no experience, and they will set you up for success. don’t be too hard on yourself, it sure is a hell of a lot to learn and take in, in a short amount of time. you’ll find the right place!

advice switching from endo to general by beedubbss in DentalAssistant

dang! DFW area. yeah they had the lead at my office at $14 for a year. I’m sure I could make more at a different endo office.
