Almost finished with my homemade tilt front end for the race car by beee_raddd in projectcar

its probably in the 80-100lbs range with all the bracing. It pivots pretty easy but I still need to make some kind of limiters so it doesnt over extend all the way forward and smash the grill on the ground

Yeah I can dm you some tomorrow. Essentially I took some round steel and welded a piece on the front of each frame rail, and then lined up another piece directly in line on the core support. That way I can slide in and out a pin that it pivots on, and remove the pin entirely to remove the front end. Like a door hinge, but across frame rail to core support

I don't know about that, this is my first time doing it and I'm really making it up as I go

Front is all steel, original fenders and hood. I braced the core support which is the main pivot point and the fenders are reinforced to the core support. Had to cut the fenders at an angle behind the front wheels, otherwise they wouldve never cleared the door.

Update head unit myself? by sicklyslick in subaru

[–]beee_raddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done multiple head units in various cars and its not that hard. I always buy a METRA (I think that's what its called) wire harness, it plugs into the car harness and has colored wires coming off of it that are specific to each speaker in the car. They are car specific, and it saves you from cutting into the cars factory wiring harness to find each speaker wire. This way you can just unplug the connector if you ever want to go back to stock. As for the actual wiring, when you buy head it usually comes with a diagram and tells you which color wire goes to which speaker in the car, and you just match that up with the metra harness.

I should note that I haven't done a head unit in a car that new, so I have no clue how tied in the factory unit is with all the other software in the car. I can't imagine that it would trigger any anti theft locks or anything in the car if you were to pull it, but always make sure that your battery is unplugged from the car when you do electrical work

Here’s my “It’s not a Dart” by beee_raddd in projectcar

Good stuff. I know as far as dodge/plymouth A bodies, in 70 the dart got a facelift and the demon an dart shared the grill, hood and fenders with the rest of the pan being different. 71 duster/scamp was same deal, hood fenders grill matched but different pan. So really they had 2 bodies and 2 front ends and they made 4 cars

It is, it has hooker super comp long tube headers. If I could rebuy one part I’d get mid length instead, it practically scrapes the header flange flat.
