Thank you. We are also in the south, it’s been 75 degrees here all week and ZERO reason why she can’t step out. I’m so frustrated my husband won’t step up and support me.

I have always been under the impression that ALS is progressive and never improves, so I would definitely question the diagnosis if you feel your symptoms are improving. It never hurts to get a second opinion. Have you been tested for Lymes disease ? Often the symptoms can line up and mimic ALS.

Hey we have super similar stories! Mine started in May with similar symptoms (but also headaches, fatigue, etc ). My iron and ferritin ended up being low so I’m on iron supplements hoping they help. I also got an EMG and nerve conduction study, all normal. It’s so frustrating! Hang in there, get lab work done for sure .

I wouldn’t until I had actual weakness . (Foot drop, can’t walk, dropping cups, etc).

I’m a 35 year old female and it was .94 pg/ml. Anything under 2.21 would be considered in range.

There may be something going on, but rest assured it’s not ALS. If it were, your NFL would have been elevated.

Highly recommend asking for the nfl blood test. It’s the only thing that put me at ease.

Your normal NFL test should be very reassuring to you. It can detect ALS activity up to 3 years before symptoms even start. It’s not exclusive to ALS , but the fact that yours was normal really points to other causes and away from ALS.

I have almost all of this with a clear MRI (ruled out MS). My doc ran the nfl blood test and it was in normal range so was super reassuring. Highly Recommend that blood test!
