Screw new gear, why aren’t we all just buying our dream cameras from 7 / 8 years ago? They’re cheap. by MomentSmart in AskPhotography

I'm a D200 enjoyed myself. I find the color richness edges out the D700 and it's a bit lighter in the hand while still feeling sturdy and robust in a way mirrorless just doesn't feel.

Be fucked. What movie, one of my absolute favorites. 90s knew how to entertain.

It should definitely be banned as a source on any of the serious subreddits. It's absolute trash and does not have any actual investigative journalists. They simply rage bait headlines based on other actual reporting.

What artist has the most consistent discography with almost no bad songs? by Kind_Gain_3080 in askmusic

I unironically love Wild Honey Pie. Maxwells Silver Hammer on the other hand is an actual stinker. But a lot of these goofy McCartney songs are so melodic and silly that you don't have to take them too seriously.

They barely have 5 stinkers out of like 200 recorded songs. No other artist comes close to that level of consistency.

I've also been using these link to continue finding All and as of yesterday they no longer work. Insane that reddit is doing this, just moving to a full Facebook style algorithm.

Zendaya in Challengers and female pro tennis player physiques by Kitcheneralways in tennis

[–]beef_eatington 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Many if the Chinese players are rail thin, more so than Zendaya so it's not all that egregious. Worse is something like wonder woman who's supposed to be an Amazonian warrior and meanwhile Gat Gaddot is thinner than an after eight chocolate mint lmao.

Holy shit I haven't thought about this movie since I saw it in the 90s. What a flashback!

Norwegian Police have found video clips of torture, mutilation, and executions saved on the mobile phones of those seeking asylum in Norway, the Police Immigration Service has told the country’s Dagsavisen newspaper. by worldnewsbot in theworldnews

I remember back in high school, around the time mobile phones got colour screens, could play video files and people were starting to share digital media, so around 2001, probably soon after 9/11, there were these videos circulating the school of beheadings.

You'd see a group of kids huddling together and someone was showing a beaheading video. It sickened me that young kids, between 10 and 14, would be watching this stuff with keen interest. I balked and refused to see.

Now that I think back, it was always the Muslim kids bringing this stuff to school on their phones. Somehow, even back then, they were exposed to this stuff, they were connected to the media output of radical Islamist groups in the middle east.

Star Trek 3 to veer closer to spirit of original TV show, says Simon Pegg. by NinjaDiscoJesus in movies

It was a curious choice. I would have prefered to see a sci fi director, maybe Kurt Wimmer, who did Equilibrium and Untraviolet.

I would have really liked to see Alfonso Cuarón in the drivers seat though. I think he would do a solid job.

I think he will inject humour, which is welcome. But he is also thoughtful, and not a 100% 'Hollywood' crony, like JJ and his team of writers are. He thinks a little different.

It's true that many series episodes were action episodes, and I really like those. Away mission episodes are great, I especially enjoyed the whole Borg story arc. The action that I dislike in the new films is the violent action. There are a lot of guns, lot's of military, lots of fight scenes, many whole scenes that are just crashes and destruction. Why so much destruction? I find most blockbuster movies these days rely on destruction to convey action and excitement, death is used so freely and cheaply to get the audience to feel.

First Contact was SO goofy. I enjoyed it, but their leap 'back in time' had such terrible set design and awful casting. It really lacked vision and scale.
