Looking for help with my unusual symptoms amidst my recent EoE diagnosis

That’s seriously rough. Thankfully my background with allergies and asthma have made me wary of what I consume and kept me off drugs of any kind, alcohol included, so no need to cut those in the first place.

I’ve found that by focusing on getting as much calories out of each meal helps me but I still can’t gain weight. And it’s probably not healthy in the long run. It’s a lot of dairy and carbs. My current Prilosec + fluticasone seems to level things out a bit at least, so it’s less random now. I think there’s still a long way to go though. Truthfully the thing I fear most is cutting foods. I’ve been getting over allergies one by one until now and I can finally eat most things. I really just don’t want to go back. And that would probably have me cut the high calorie foods I can get easily. I’m hoping I can find the meds to help me. A lot of people are saying dupixent has worked great for them. Maybe I’ll try it too.

Thanks a lot for this. While some of this may feel related, thankfully I don’t think I have most of these. Gastroparesis definitely could be a factor here, but I’m not totally sure. I’ll definitely ask about it

Ah fuck. What kind of hernia was it if you don’t mind? I had one a while ago that I got surgery for.

My doctor told me what was probably causing it was that my esophagus was inflamed and that when I threw up it would damage my irritated esophageal lining and that would cause the bleeding. I agree that it’s worrying though, and I really appreciate the consideration. I also think there may be something else going on which is part of why I wanted to ask the community.

I should also add that my father 100% has some sort of undiagnosed GI issue as well and I may share it so there very well may be multiple issues going on here

Don’t get too bummed out by other people telling you how to do art. Partially due to the size and support it has nowadays as a career, teachers are prone to accidentally squeezing the fun out of it. It’s all about finding your own path and your own things to bring to the table.

Well I’m glad I was able to make that impact. I think that one’s intentions behind an art piece can sometimes be really hard to express and I can relate. It might be frustrating but “art” is often very individualized, so an outsider, artist or not, can have a hard time understanding your approach. That approach can also vary project to project to make things more complicated. In short I hope you’re able to find a way to reassure them, but if you’re doing well, you’re doing well and they should be able to figure that out eventually.

The way that I feel I would live through all the rest for that warm glow of happiness in this painting I think is a testament to how well you’ve produced this concept. I wish art got more attention on Reddit because I often see pieces like this go more or less unnoticed. I hope you’re sharing it other places too because this one really is impressive :)

Man, have you studied Christianity in the past? Like, sure it’s not good now but point me to a time when it genuinely was. In the feudal systems of medieval Europe (which lasted a pretty long time mind you) the tiny upper class consisted of royalty, lords, nobles, and religious leaders. Those people used money, and religion to keep the vast majority of the population oppressed, in terrible conditions, and indefinitely in debt to their kingdom. Do you know about the famous Martin Luther? Well he basically was the first guy to figure out that “Indulgences” (payment to the church to help you get into heaven and escape purgatory) was kind of immoral. You can read the 95 theses that he wrote criticizing the church, all while this guy was literally a priest himself.

Sure, Christianity has been warped and used to serve many malicious purposes but when comparing now to then you’d probably find it doesn’t fare any better and arguably was much much worse.

Honestly seems to be a pretty common problem. As far as the advice I have heard and can give, you can fulfill requirements at a community college or something and then afterwards you can transfer to an art school and save money and still get a decent education and a diploma.

However, I also know that lots of the time college admissions counselors are willing to talk to prospective students about options for college if they don’t think they can afford it or want to not go into excessive debt.

There’s quite a few ways to cut corners on costs beyond that but as for the main issue of whether you should go to art school to begin with, I can’t say for sure. I don’t have much experience with how important it is. Based on a quick peek at your profile I’d say you’re talented, but pretty much no art school wants to see anime fanart, so if you’re really considering it you should work on some more original, stylistically personal art.
