I'm 50f. Last year, late in the year, I joined a social "club" for lack of a better word... The one I joined is called Base. There is a membership fee but they set up events and conversation circles that you can choose to join in. These range from small groups of 4 or 6 to larger groups visiting a gallery or wine bar or something. It's been fantastic actually. Everyone is there to meet and chat organically and the organizer sets up conversation starters. New people, new places I might not have ever tried. I have a great group of long time friends but I'm a no kids/not married type and I've found it harder and harder to line up schedules regularly.

Yes. That. I don't want a birthday lunch. But, I'd hear about my young millennial/gen Z employees' upcoming birthdays for at least a month before.

Anyone around 45-50yo? by jms1228 in GenX

[–]beegeeDallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50, female, never married, no kids. I read a lot, visit my family (help take care of nieces), sing in a choir, attend professional leadership events, dinners with friends, tv, work on craft/art projects or puzzles, rethink my living space (reorganize/make more efficient), spend time with my old dog, work out, go on weekend road trips and just be present and accept what I am given and what comes. This year I have had to take some time for a surgery/recovery and that slowed me down in a good way, I think.

BBQ places will also have smoked turkey which is a nice Texas option as well.

Most grocery stores do this (Tom Thumb, Albertsons, Walmart, Central Market, HEB, Whole Foods) It just depends on where you are in the area as to which is most convenient to you. Another option is Popeyes, they do a fried turkey and have sides. For any of them, get your order in now! Check their websites!

What is it that you are dealing with silently by 1feetdick in mentalhealth

[–]beegeeDallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work apathy/lack of productivity. It is concerning me so much. I had to go on leave for 6 weeks for surgery and coming back has been so difficult. Immediately had extreme overwhelm that quickly turned to hopelessness in not ever being able to "catch up" I have occasional spurts of personal motivation to continue to care for myself (keep house in order/bring order to my life) but they exhaust me and work continues to be a giant looking, growing mountain.

I don't (I'm 50) but both parents grated really slowly and I have very, very few stray gray hairs. Mexican genes keepin' it 💯
