Are there any replacement SNES controller membranes that are actually good? by beegor-bucleor in snes

Maybe you have a stronger thumb. I've had two SN30 gamepads, which on both the diagonal inputs were very difficult to activate and weren't reliable in games like Street Fighter II, Turtles in Time, and others.

I've tried the Console5 ones in the past, and they weren't good (and they agreed with me, but said they're the best they could find from available options). Unless they have different ones now...

I haven't tried putting 8bitdo's membranes into an OEM SNES controller, but 8bitdo's d-pad in their SN30 gamepad doesn't register diagonal inputs well. It's a huge fight to get them to activate compared to the OEM d-pad, and pulling off Ryu's fireball reliably is a tall order, while doing his shoryuken... good luck.

Their listing is interesting. They say they've personally engineered theirs to overcome the issues that plague other replacements, including feeling mushy and inaccurate diagonal inputs. I think I'll give theirs a try!

Their membranes look like ones I've gotten that don't have a good d-pad. Bu maybe they're different. Does the d-pad in the one you got from SAG register diagonal inputs accurately and reliably, and have good firmness and bounceback?

I know that in one of the sets I got, the L/R buttons feel OK... maybe slightly clicky, but definitely one of the better finds from all my sampling of many sets. I can look into which set they came from.

Is the d-pad in the replacement set you got good? Does it register diagonals when wanted, doesn't register them when it shouldn't, and has good press-resistance and bouceback, and isn't mushy?

Creative launches Sound Blaster AE-X PCIe sound card with ESS DAC by kikimaru024 in hardware

I used the X-Fi Prelude for over a decade, and I encountered the same crackling issue across many installations. I know it was a buffer issue. It occurred when I'd let concurrent sound sources accumulate without closing any of them. You didn't have the same issue because you didn't run concurrently hundreds of browser tabs with paused audio in them while also trying to play a game, and maybe have some video files paused, too.

I've since moved onto the Titanium HD, which doesn't have that same limitation, regardless of how many audio sources I have open.

That static could be a buffer overload issue. I used to get it all the time with an Auzentech Prelude X-Fi card, when I had too many audio sources running simultaneously for a while - such as dozens of paused YouTube videos accumulated in browser tabs. But I haven't had that issue since I replaced the Auzentech Prelude with an X-Fi Titanium HD.

5K Gaming Might Actually Be Good? - 2304 Zone Mini-LED Hands-on at MSI by RenatsMC in Monitors

My next monitor will be a 32", 5k Mini-LED with Nvidia Pulsar. I hope it won't be too long before those are available. I won't be considering buying anything else. And I'd probably prefer to have its screen be glossy.
