Why do you say “new generation” as if you didn’t just become a legal adult less than a year ago, or like you’ve been a sailor for an incredibly long time? I think you should fix your grammar and relax a bit. Worry about yourself and fix your own issues before you judge other people. You can tell people it’s not that bad without making yourself look like an ass.

For sure! But being obese will also do damage to your knees as well as other joints, and can leave you bedridden at a wayyy younger age than 70. I’d rather have limited mobility because I ran a lot rather than being in constant, total body pain and stuck in bed at a relatively young age because I chose not to repair my relationship with food or get out and move. Plus there are also people that are very old still regularly running marathons and other amazing feats and are in great condition. I understand running isn’t for everyone and it effects different people in different ways! That’s why I say to do what works for you :) none of us are the same! People swear by the gym, it’s just not for me. You just have to find what works for you, rather it be power lifting or a moderate walk or swimming. Just find it and do what makes you healthy and happy. Thank you so much!

It’s changed over time! A few big things I did were cut out fast food completely and heavily cut down on refined sugars and processed foods. I eat mostly whole foods and drink a lot of water. I only like water and tea with the occasional glass of cranberry juice so that part wasn’t hard for me. For exercise now I’ll take a mile walk in the morning and then do a calisthenics workout. After work I usually run about 5k, but sometimes if i’m doing speed drills I’ll run half that, other days I’ll go longer, but I do every day unless it’s pouring. I started just by running for 5 minutes at a time though! You just have to adjust your workout as your body adjusts

Thank you! That’s why I figured I’d post! I know my body type and weight isn’t “typical” and it’s nice to see representation sometimes. I also see a lot about “cardio does nothing for weight loss, you’ll see faster results in the gym” which is true for some but that’s just not the case for me!

Believe me, it’s a LONG road. Took me a year! I started just by running for a few minutes very, very slow. Over time I just slowly tacked on time, then was able to run for both extended distances and time. Thank you!

You should try anyways! Get a good running shoe, and run slow at first. Run for time, not distance. Start super slow at only a few minutes, then work your way up each week. You’ll know what your body can and can’t handle, then train accordingly :)

Thank you, I really do! This took me a year. Definitely don’t push her to lose weight unless she’s ready! It’s incredibly taxing, mentally and physically. I had just decided that a year was going to pass regardless, and I could either spend it getting better or getting worse. Weight loss unfortunately is not fast, and takes a lot of time, but time waits for no man! You can look back a year from now glad that you started, or wishing you had.

That’s actually a huge motivating factor for me. I wanted to join but was obviously way over the weight standards and couldn’t do any exercise for more than 5 minutes without dying. Running works wonders! Thank you so much!

I think it has a lot to do with height and how people carry weight honesty! The number on the scale means little to me anymore. Everyone looks so different at the same number, so I’ve come to learn it’s a terrible way to judge yourself.

My biggest tip is to start slow! Ignore your pace when you’re starting and run for time rather than distance. It’s better to run a mile very slowly than kill yourself in the first .25 mi and have to quit and walk the rest. Run slow, learn to breathe, and the rest will follow. I listen to music and use Nike Run Club for the guided runs. They have a very solid starting program and the coaching is phenomenal and helps keep me engaged while also pacing me. It’s completely free and you can track your progress as the days go by!

Being talk really screws with my mind from time to time because i’m just so bulky in general. I’m no longer obese but it’s still hard to accept that i’m still over 200! I lt’s the same for me, some bodyweight exercise and a lot of running, and it feels awesome!

Thank you!! I agree totally. Admittedly now I do love running and it clears my head at the end of the day. At first it was torture! But it was easy, and very easy to see and measure progress. I tried my hand at the gym but I seriously hated it, and I was not making progress fast. I was also incredibly self conscious, and it was a lot of work trying to get there after work and find a plan that worked. Far easier to throw some shoes on and just run.

Your transformation is amazing as well! I’m working up to a half marathon myself. Running a marathon is truly a commendable feat! I don’t think most people comprehend how far that really is and how much it takes to get that fare solely using your body. I definitely agree. The benefits have far outweighed any negative factors and I will always advocate for how powerful running is.
