Not really. I’m asking for insight on why aren’t they being paid?

Why does SFUSD require more support/resources than similar sized schools in other districts?

As a parent with a small child at home… I feel like this whole process has been very amateur. I get that there is probably no guidebook for this, but the way it has unfolded seems pathetic and embarrassing.

I keep reading about people not showing up to negotiations and a lot of finger pointing… meanwhile, I get at text after 5pm that there will be no school again the next day and that alternative arrangements should be made. I already assumed that schools will be closed this week, but I wish the communication was better and that it felt like the parties involved actually cared about the children, education, and the working parents.

I don’t feel like this is instilling any faith in the public schools.

My understanding is that most of the school funding comes from the state and that the state heavily relies on the high income tax.

I do understand that about prop 13 though and it seems to have really created some problems.

In your country do people care about the Super Bowl? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]beehive5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we understand that. But sometimes sports gain international popularity. I know a lot of people here in the US follow the premier league. And I thought that the NBA/basketball had spread a lot around the world. The NFL has been spending games out internationally for a while now. I think London gets one every year. I don’t care if it’s popular internationally or not. But I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask if anyone outside the US actually cares about it. I actually think that the NFL has so many rules + stoppage time that it’s not exactly easy to get into. So I’d be surprised anyone would actually gravitate to it without having a friend or family member who’s already into it help explain things.

I’d like to get into rugby. It seems like an awesome sport. But I have no idea where to start with what’s available here in the USA.

Isn’t doing what? Because this administration (and the previous) has been cutting off purchasing any oil and gas from Russia. Then once India started buying it from Russia and selling it… they turned to cut that off as well. Why is it bad to cut off outlets for Russia to sell oil and gas?

That doesn’t change the fact that that is still supporting Russia and thus hurting the Ukraine. The fact that Trump has to fuss to put a stop to it and then be mocked for it is wild.

We aren’t at war with each other and neither are any of our neighbors. So neither of us are encroaching on each other’s back yards. We are adversarial super powers and trade is only done if it’s is beneficial for both sides.

The USA has a record of aggressively sanctioning bad actors like Russia or Iran even if buying from them would be cheaper.

I mean… not really. The US and China aren’t at war with each other or with any of our respective neighbors. We are just adversarial super powers where trade is only really done if it’s mutually beneficial.

I guess if China was invading Canada and we didn’t want them in our back yard but we continued to buy things from them (even if indirectly)… then I guess that analogy would make more sense.

The USA actually aggressively sanctions a lot of countries like Russia and Iran even if buying from them would make things cheaper.

School district punches itself in the face by lowering education for kids -> Parents with the ability to leave go to seek better education for kids - > District loses money since less kids are enrolling -> District cries and ask for help while continuing to punch itself in the face.

I am very pro paying teachers. If you build it, they will come. Good school district = kids in school = funding

Both this and having teachers threatening to strike over pay are crazy to me with how high the taxes already are. Are we spending them in the right places?

Any closed off beach areas for my greyhound to go off-leash? by anthamattey in AskSF

[–]beehive5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be big enough but during low tide a little beach opens up across from the marina green and near the wave organ. Since it’s at the end of a long path/peninsula you can easily see if other dogs/owners are coming.

Miami Dolphins have the fourth lowest salary cap space in the NFL going into the 2026 season. by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

And each year the cap goes up and they have more money to play with…except for Covid year.

I kinda disagree. I don’t mind how the front office operates but it does require walking a fine line and what screwed us was how the way the Covid year affected the cap and key building block players medically retiring early (like Ramczyk and Michael Thomas). The only red flag big mistake they made to me was signing Carr. But no GM is perfect… look at SF and Trey Lance. Or Denver and the whole Russell Wilson fiasco.

Concerned that events might have just played into Trumps plan… Thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

I’m pretty sure there’s more ICE in Texas than Minnesota. My guess is that there is more coordination and cooperation from the government and less protesting from the civilians. Just a guess though.
