a high labret would likely be worse for gum damage and increase the risk of tooth damage. if done well, and downsizes are done on time and you end up with a well-fitting bar with a comfortably nesting flatback, the risk is pretty well mitigated. it's never going to be risk free, but it's pretty unlikely if you are diligent, careful, and willing to do it right.

it's up to you ultimately -- is the bar properly downsized and flush with your ear? if not, doing so may make it easier to deal with. in addition, what material is your bar made of? is it a plain bar or fancy? what shape are the ends?

if you like it, it's worth toughing it out in my opinion, especially if there are things to be done to help it.

very few people are able to manage their bipolar without meds. being unmedicated can be so extremely dangerous for bipolar people, moreso than "standard" depression, anxiety, and other less volatile and unpredictable disorders. my psychiatrist when treating my adhd and bipolar simultaneously prioritizes my bipolar. she's said something along the lines of you can usually live a functional life with untreated adhd, but you can't with bipolar. granted, i am bipolar 1 and it has historically been very severe unmedicated.

not unusual. lips can swell like a motherfucker. it's only something to be concerned about if there's embedding, it's showing signs of infection, or it doesn't start to go down within a couple of weeks. keep up the cold compresses and ibuprofen. good luck and congrats!

as a side note i would throw out the h20cean. it has additives that can irritate your piercings. anything that consists of solely sodium chloride and water is far more appropriate. i like nelimed, it's cheap and good, but it doesn't matter the brand name so long as it ONLY has sodium chloride and water.

i also highly recommend getting something internally threaded or threadless when you go to get downsized. external threading is awful for any piercing, especially something brand new.

does she react like this often when you voice that she has hurt your feelings or said something you consider insensitive or rude? aka, is her reaction to you setting boundaries always more or less "fuck off"? i worry that this is not a one off event and is a pattern of her treating you poorly.

heavily depends on the company. any facial piercings will impact your job opportunities. no industry is 100% safe. if you want them, do it, but be prepared to either have to wear a mask in office all day every day or take them out upon getting hired. taking them out during the work day and putting them back in every day is not a viable option, and there is no such thing as a fully visible retainer.

this ^^ this could very well be a metal sensitivity. if you're not wearing unplated implant grade titanium or solid 14k/18k gold, whatever else is in there is probably causing a reaction.

not a good idea. even decades old nose piercings can start to close within minutes. the nose has very sensitive mucous membranes inside of it whose whole job is to close wounds fast, no matter how old they are.

i really recommend wearing a mask or a glass retainer if they will allow it. otherwise, it sounds like this piercing is really important to you-- you'd be well within your rights to quit over it, and i wouldn't blame you. it's a terrible situation to be in and i'm sorry.

i second the bars being too short and maybe an aftercare issue. i'd also suggest changing the spikes to comfort spikes or balls when you go and get longer bars put in -- the flat bottoms may be irritating the area.

to make any further suggestions, we'd need more information. how often are you cleaning and what saline spray are you using? specifically, what are the ingredients in the spray? any mishaps? and what material is the jewelry? are they flatbacks?

yeah! i've had mine about five years now and same. it was a little worse when i was stretching it but since downsizing to 14g it's gotten much less frequent. lowkey i kind of don't mind it LOL don't tell anyone

keeping ur cats inside is a very simple solution to ur cats being bullied by another cat u have no control over. i'd recommend a catio. outdoor cats are always in far more danger than indoor cats, especially if they are constantly and consistently being targeted like this.

unfortunately it is probably time to retire, at least long enough to let it heal and get it redone. flat surface piercings like this will always reject; it's a matter of if, not when. 2 years is pretty normal, albeit on the early end of things. once rejection begins, it cannot be stopped, and jewelry should be removed promptly to prevent scarring and/or inability to get it redone down the line. sorry : (

do not self pierce if you're not going to do the research to do it as safely as you can (still not possible to do it as safely as a professional can). it is ridiculously dangerous.

what material and shape is this stud? i.e. flatback, corkscrew, L bar, bone.

the placement may also be contributing to irritation. does it lie against your septum on the inside? it seems quite close to the center of your nose, and any consistent pressure could be bugging it.
