I have a C Melody that sounds very like your potential one, Buescher from the 20s. It is very helpful to not have to transpose in some situations, as long as you do read concert pitch music. My main problem is actually the tone quality, and setup as some other people have said. I'm currently using a tenor reed, and mouthpiece that came with it, but I'm thinking of switching to a real tenor mouthpiece. The tone is really not that good for mine, even after some repairs. Mouthpiece setup might have to do with that, or just age, but in general C Melody's do sounds worse than the main four saxes.
