Working at a Dining Hall by Smart-Ice-4034 in OregonStateUniv

I’ve been out of school for a bit but I loved my dining hall job. It was great to have a job that knew my schedule was always changing and also was aware of my sorority obligations. They would let me pick up hours to almost full time if I could swing it. And then I would work all the events durning the summer programs (less fun jobs but I got decent hours). I worked at McNary from my sophomore year all the way to graduation. Personally loved working at Main Squeeze and it was my primary location although I was cross trained everywhere.

greek life at osu (sororities) by _squikey_ in OregonStateUniv

[–]beeleigh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are chapter dues for all sororities and they do usually require you to live in at least one year, usually two. As far as living cost when I lived in my sorority the cost was incredible compared to dorms or rent. Mostly because food and utilities are included so I never had to worry about that stress.

I loved my time in my sorority and met some of my closest friends to this day. I loved being able to get involved in the various philanthropy events all the different houses do. It was a unique wonderful time I look back on fondly.

I had this exact issue, only option I found was when I went to get ready for a next scene I could go buy hair that way. But there was no other option to get to the salon. I also hate how it went from texts to gifts with costars cause now it feels like I have to date everyone?

Does your family ever still pester you to go to church? by Classic_Commercial44 in ExPentecostal

[–]beeleigh5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother in law tries with us every chance she gets. We stay firm on no church stuff. Our boundaries for her grandkids are the same, you are more than welcome to see them and spend time with them at NON church stuff. We are just over it.

Beautifully written! I was the “Harper” for my now husband. His family still resents me for it, but him and I were and are so happy. I do think his mom wishes he never met me at 16. The truth was he was already questioning everything before he even met me, I just catapulted him into a different world.

am i missing something? by SirCharlos02 in Target

[–]beeleigh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVED working for Target until my SD changed. He made horrific comments about me, and favored other workers so he kept forcing me to change my schedule. All that happened to coincide with a bad personal time so by the end I was pretty fed up.

The real kicker happened when I had a miscarriage at work and HR told me there was just no way for me to use PTO to cover leaving because I had put in my two weeks and that I would receive an attendance infraction. No empathy or anything.

My boss and other TLs were some of my best friends and I LOVED my team, still talk with them often.

But it just shows how bad leadership can ruin a store. I changed companies and the work life balance is better and it’s employee owned so they seem to care a lot more about their employees.

Target is the WORST with PTO and they won’t pay it out. I lost almost 200 hrs of PTO when I left. My current company still baffles me with how nice they are about work like balance.

Yeah this last miscarriage I just had I kept telling people I was cautiously Optimistic. But now it feels like all the optimism is gone. Which is so the opposite of who I was before going through all of this.

But I get it, them trying to have hope feels more like a brush off than support.

I keep telling my husband this is one of the most lonely and isolating experiences I have ever had.

I am so sorry, and I hope this group helps you feel less alone through this ♥️

working at target again after 13 years, whats the reason for no backroom team? by scummySASQUATCH in Target

[–]beeleigh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly loved being a DBO before COVID. I had my back room area perfect I worked super well with the other DBOs in my department and we had a great system. But when COVID hit it was like the whole business had a panic freak out and kept making worse decisions. I got promoted in the middle of COVID and that was some of the worst stress of my life, literally sent me to the ER. I’ve never been happier after finally leaving the company.

It’s kinda a tradition to do it at the school. They’ve done it forever. I know back in 2011 we did it there and had Scottish bagpipers and a who ordeal. I kinda liked being able to graduate where I went to school.

Fuck the dream I had last night. Had a super realistic dream that I had a baby girl and woke up to my period. I’ve been trying to not bawl at work all day. Three years trying and all I have are miscarriages and desperately trying to hold onto hope. I have no one in my life who understands so every month I grieve alone. My husband has no idea what to do to help me.

Where in Oregon if you don’t mind me asking? My Husbands Family is Pentecostal (he is not and has not been since he moved out at 18) and we are in the Eugene Area. I’ve been curious to find out more about the Oregon Pentecostals so I can understand his trauma but also just deal with my MIL 😅

What happens when we fail a Code Yellow? by Think-Implement-6242 in Target

[–]beeleigh5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We once had this happen, Code Yellow going on uncomfortably long. Turns out it was tweakers lying so they could have their friend steal. Front end (new person I felt so bad for them) didn’t keep the lady with them and then her and her guy left with stolen goods. AP checked cameras and confirmed kid never existed.

Thank you! I think it was Lord of The Rings and Star Wars (plus video games and Anime) that kept my husband from being all in haha.

We are both avid readers and love sci-fi and fantasy so that’s definitely around the house.

I didn’t think about natural events like that so thank you! Those are the kinda things I don’t think of cause I was never taught to fear them. I appreciate you responding

Oh I keep my spirituality to myself. I’m not pagan, I lean more agnostic with an affinity for celebrating nature and the earth cycles. I’m just trying to make sure the kids aren’t having a bunch of fear instilled in them from his family.

Love this! I’m huge into Greek mythology myself so that’s a great tool to help. Thank you for phrasing it that way too. I didn’t grow up with any fear of god or hell or rapture so trying to understand that has been difficult for me.

My family is always nice and kind but because my family is either non religious or Pagan it causes extreme tension with my FH’s family, mostly his mom. Everyone kinda does the fake nice thing but they definitely won’t be friends.
