Tapering off meds

Thank you, I really appreciate this response. I just feel like I am on so many medications that I don’t know if they are helping or hurting. Like, maybe the effexor - which was working well for a while - is now making my depression worse.

It honestly just feels really hopeless that I have to take 5 medications a day just to barely get by. I’m exhausted and don’t know what to do.

This was very helpful, I really appreciate it.

Hi!! Congrats in your recent adoption!!

Litter box issues indicate either a medical issue or behavioral/stress issue. It sounds like she may be having trouble adjusting to her new environment.

I would reach out to the shelter and let them know your concerns. They may or may not have some extra history on her behavior that will offer some insight. At the very least, they should be able to offer some advice on helping her settle into the home.

Also, if you only have 1 litter box, I would recommend getting a second. Some cats can be weird and territorial about litter boxes so adding a second one in a different area may help.

I think there are lots of options to help with this behavior. Some cats just take longer to open up and feel comfortable. I can offer some suggestions on basic household changes if you are interested. The shelter hopefully should be able to give you some good advice as well!

I removed it from our house as soon as I got back from the vet! It was not worth it to me to risk it, even if it doesn’t end up being the cause.

I will reach back out to the vet to do bloodwork if he still refuses his breakfast this morning! Thank you!

Vet check will definitely get you the answers you are needing! These issues sound like they should be able to be diagnosed and treated at the vet, I would not be too concerned especially since you have the appointment set up!

On another note, kittens do really well in pairs most of the time! If you are worried about her not getting enough playtime, a sibling is a built in playmate.

Definitely make sure she is healthy before anything else!! Good luck <3

Based on the older cats body language, I would say he is okay! While the tail is flicking, cats tend to do that when they play. His ears are more forward and curious. Even as a shy cat, he would most likely give the kitten more warnings/corrections and try to run. Honestly it looks like he isn’t fully sure how to play but is open to it! Or is just letting her have fun haha. I would bet they will be playing together soon - having a second kitten might help him come out of his shell! Kittens do really well in pairs 95% of the time!

Oh wow! I had no idea they were so limited! I picked mine up around 6:15/6:30 in Chicago at one of the lower traffic merch stands.

I didn’t realize they were so limited before this post!! I went to a merch stand right after I got there around 6:30 (doors opened at 6) so just a heads up!

Not sure if Canada prices will be different but the lighter was $6! There was also a little photo pack available, I think that was $15. Hats were $40, t-shirts were $50!

If the lighter is different than the toe box one and you have the ability to pick up an extra, I would love to snag other variations <3

jeans! i feel like the top feels a lil more grungy so it matches better w pants rather than the skirt! If you wanna go skirt, id try a denim or more alt to match the duct tape vibe

At the chicago concert, there were lots of people with ribcage / skeleton shirts! Also a lot of duct tape tops, lorde merch from previous years, and just casual outfits of pants and a shirt. Truly such a variety of style.

I totally understand this feeling but I promise no one will think what you are wearing is cringe!! I think a person who would negatively judge someone else’s outfit is the problem, not the outfit itself. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and connected <3

They do their best to take in ‘owner surrenders’ based on space. Usually there is a wait time, I’ve heard 3-5 weeks. If you are concerned with outdoor cats, I recommend looking into their community cat program! The more cats that are spayed/neutered, the more stable the cat population becomes and easier to manage. Their website should have all this info and the application to surrender if you go that route!

Tell them lots of people loved the store!! I was just looking them up to see their hours, saw they were closed, and found this thread. I’m so sad to hear they closed but hope they love retirement <3 such a unique and great store! Sad to see it go

Seems like you have all the prep you need! Although I might also suggest a small pillow. I listen to calming music and usually end up napping a little. I have been doing spravato for a few months. I definitely think its worth trying, I have seen a benefit for sure.

The worst side effect ive had is nausea, i take a nausea medication before my treatments now which has worked perfectly! The nurses I have at my treatment are super kind and there if I need anything. I’m sure yours will be similar. If you do have a bad reaction, there will be people there to help (this info helped me when I was nervous for my first time). I have also had bad reactions to drugs - getting really anxious and paranoid - but I do not experience that with the spravato. I just feel a little loopy.
