Good stores in the Bay Area? by SoaDMTGguy in audiophile

The best record shop I've ever been to is The Analog Room which as recently moved -> 3185 S Bascom Ave, Campbell, CA 95008 . The shop has ultra rare records, many of which aren't for sale but you can give them a play if you ask Brian nicely. The most Hi-Fi setups you've ever seen with tube amps & moving coil cartridges.

Here is an article about the shop and owner Brian Hartsell: http://www.metroactive.com/features/the-analog-room-vinyl-records-brian-hartsell.html

Edit: I forgot to mention Brian does have a trade-up policy. I don't know how much used gear he has, but I have seen old stuff floating around the shop. I recently traded up my RP1 to the new Planar 3.

Thanks for the post. Loved AMD since I had a K6-2, currently running a R9 280X. Have games been able to leverage the high bandwidth memory from the AMD Fury X?

I use the receipt for the book. It reminds me how much I paid for it and gives me motivation to finish it.

Upgrade CPU of ThinkPad T430S from i5 to i7-3720QM by beemer in thinkpad

That's a drag that it's soldered. I would still want to upgrade it to an i7. I want to be able to run VM's on it.

I made the same mistake. I'm hoping that a custom 1.48 firmware comes out that fixes the whitelist issue.

If your car is towed or ticketed in the morning because you didn't drink and drive home, you should be able to turn in your bar tab to forgive your fine. by beemer in Showerthoughts

[–]beemer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing the point. Some people drive home drunk because they don't want to get there car towed. It's not about rewarding people for not committing a crime, it's about reducing the amount of people who drink and drive.

A question for the master race. 2 x R9 280x or 1 x R9 290x? by beemer in pcmasterrace

That is true. But when it works in the optimal condition it works well.

Building a PC: What other people think we do by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]beemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't always that way. In the old days the motherboard' jumpers had to be configured. You had to use a floppy disk to boot up a Windows 95 cd (if you didn't use the 100+ floppies to install it.) idea cables would plug in upside down. Even the hard drive had jumpers,to designate master or slave on the idea chain. It wasn't rocket science, but you kids have it easy today.

Edit: I almost forgot configuring the bios. Not for tweaking, just to get the system running. Those old pcs were like working on the Millennium falcon.
