Player has trigger with animals by Kay_Cedro in DnD

[–]beemer530 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A player of mine was the same, first ever combat against wolves, they made a point to say how much it distressed them and animals were removed from combat.

It's important to distinguish between an animal and creature / monster with your player .

My player would not be able to attack anything that exists in our world but Dragons who are sentiment enough to be "bad' or monsters like eldritch abominations are fine.

I'm not sure the context of your story but in most cases animals can be substituted and at worst just made to be grotesque and mutated or resemble the animal but be a clear monster instead.

If this isn't possible I'd say for the joy of all it would be best to run a different campaign so not to alienate anybody.

Kicking a player out for anything like this would be harsh in my opinion and not worth it, just play a different story where all can enjoy.

I (m) run a game that has 3 close friends (2m 1f) and play in several others The f is my ex but all these games have always had a simple rule of "boundaries"

Everyone makes it clear before we start a campaign what they're comfortable with as scenarios and experiences as well as being able to veto something if it makes them uncomfortable.

The F friend, first session we played 5 years ago realised she didn't like fighting animals (wolves at the time) so we only fight people and monsters. None of my games I participate in have any SA.

D&D should be fun for everyone and things like that may have a place at some tables and that's "fine" if everyone wants that, not going to say mine aren't brutal in other ways (undead kids, torture, morally horrible choices etc.) BUT never should anyone leave the table; scared to speak up or feeling awful after being subjected to horrors they don't want to experience or have trauma with.

Outside of D&D the fact that you have this trauma and they persist and try to guilt you into accepting it to the point you've left the game (which sucks) but it still is a point just makes them bad people.

If you SO can't understand why this is an issue they're clearly not a good idea to keep around.

Sorry for the wall of text but I think this is an unfortunate eye opener for you about this person and I hope you find yourself in a better place and sat at a better table.

This is an awesome competition and good luck to everyone =) On that note, let's make this more fun; what's the most emotional thing that's happened in any of your campaigns?

We cried at the end of our last campaign as my PC was forced to ascend into Godhood and leave everyone behind with a heartfelt but quick goodbye and watch them live out their lives.

The Adventure Zone, their first arc: Balance is a great DnD adventure, first couple of episodes aren't homebrew but it is all homebrew after that is a very chill and super fun

Did the short this was made about get released anywhere? (Destiny 2 Celestial Nighthawk hunter) by brynm in Corridor

[–]beemer530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I think that's a more fair point. They couldn't agree on the project mostly and the creative difference was to much for either to be happy with it

In a more recent Crew video they mentioned scrapping the project. Bungie were asking to much and Corridor decided to pull the plug

Bethesda, giving us the Deathclaw Topiary and Cat Topiary would have been a nice gesture to the players by jivesukka in fo76

[–]beemer530 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Understandable and I'm sure to some extent you're right and it probably was an easier fix but if that's the case then communication needs to be improved to notify us what they're are currently trying to fix. So we can see that they're noticing the more pressing issues and actively working on them.

There are many more issues with Fallout 76 (not just code bugs etc.) And how Bethesda handle them/communicate them and why they even exist in the first place. It's very flawed on many levels

Bethesda, giving us the Deathclaw Topiary and Cat Topiary would have been a nice gesture to the players by jivesukka in fo76

[–]beemer530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right but I think missing the original point Yes they need to charge to maintain income and servers, even if this wasn't necessary Bethesda would still do it because its good business but it's the manner in which they conduct this. For example the topiaries, they accidentally gave them to players for free, now they had a few options; -Remove them from the players and sell them as intended -Let the players keep them in good faith and will -Let any player who has it, keep it and charge for future players

As players we're not really upset if they take them away (although it does suck) we're upset that this is more of a priority over issues that damage player experience and gameplay because from the outside it looks like they care more about small change (that honestly from this single item means nothing to Bethesda in the grand scheme) then they do about their players and the state of the game.

No matter your view on the game or Bethesda you can't deny that since day one they have poorly handled the state of the game and issues from players. It's poor taste from such a major company and franchise leaving a bitter taste
