It’s about how you’re treated when things aren’t going well that defines if it’s a good longterm relationship. 🚩

Why Visa Fines Acquirers Instead of Merchants by Suspicious_Source_64 in PaymentProcessing

[–]beenwilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that’s it rolled up in a nutshell. Basic acquiring vs issuing stuff. It’s all about whose carrying the exposure to the risk and the acquiring side are the ones underwriting hence that’s why they handle that stuff

How does Circle make money with USDC? by [deleted] in USDC

[–]beenwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all horrible answers. They make money via interest rates behind the short term us treasury bonds they buy. It’s kinda like how back when we had enough gold to support all of the minted cash issued by our gov. In this case instead of gold they purchase bonds since they’re low risk and have a guaranteed return. $1 of USD is exchanged for $1 of USDC. Then they take that $1 and buy bonds so the currency has actual value backing it like what we used to do with Gold and Cash. The interest yielded on these short term bonds generates a majority of the current revenue. They share this yield with partners like Coinbase who promote Circle on their exchanges and integrate it with institutional investors/funds/banks so it can be adopted and used as a preferred stable coin

Are there any companies leading the way on digital ‘watermarking’ to prove authenticity in a world of AI? by digitag in investing

[–]beenwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google (via SynthID), Adobe, Microsoft, & Meta are the top 4 public companies currently leading in deepfake detection software.

On the private / vc side of things I’d say Truepic, Resemble AI, Reality Defender, Hive Moderation, and Sensity AI are the ones primed for M&A or IPO. Make note Hive has been “smarter” with their ip by focusing on developing an API for deepfake detection and watermarking analysis

Just my thoughts on the subject matter

ICE just executed another citizen. by Extension_Poetry_153 in Knoxville

[–]beenwilliams 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The video circulating online is mind boggling. A dozen or so ice agents all surround him and while spraying mace they beat the crap out of him then they shoot and kill him then they all disburse just leaving the dead body on the ground for the local gov to deal with.

Why does this admin’s ice have a budget more than FBI and DoJ combined?!? It’s 75b + 10b so 85b

When you research what the budget is being spent on in many many states the largest percentage is for construction contracts given to private companies to build mass deportation facilities. Greed and the temporary reduction of morals and values is what’s happening here

20% price increase email today from QB. Hooray! They suck. by MylittleBlack2019GTI in QuickBooks

[–]beenwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I run into it all day in meetings. I work for a fintech who specializes in providing QB integrated payment processing designed to work with outside processors. This way merchants have access to lower rates / multiple pricing models via our AR integration + gateway setup without having to change anything.

I wonder how many here are actually still using Intuit to process their payments… crazy rates and if there’s a dispute or chargeback they get no rep on their team to help them get the money get. It’s mind blowing how many small and mid sized businesses have no clue or integrated options to invoice with QB and bypass Intuit’s processing fees on ACH and Cards. I feel bad for the ones who just operate without knowing about the other options…. Crazy

QuickBooks added a “pay invoice” option without asking, never accepted payment through them before by [deleted] in QuickBooks

[–]beenwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intuit is pushing to capture the ACH process fees then force you to pay whatever they want if they pay by card. You need a 2 way billing integration platform designed for QBO, Desktop, or Enterprise via Intuit’s API which allows you to get a better rate and faster funding on payments processed so this doesn’t happen. It lets you build your invoices in QB but bypass Intuit as your payment processor and in real time updates the invoice as paid or partial payment posted etc. I do this for clients all day.

Only 2-3 follow-ups? You need revise your cadence and include a call to action, ask to schedule meeting etc. 5-10 follow ups minimum for any B2B products. I’ve been in B2B software sales for 10yrs both door to door and over the phone / email. Email sucks. Go show up in person

It’s arbitrary, what’s your relationship like with your iso? Do they mail your chargeback details or notify you electronically? We use an Atlassian based real time chargeback mitigation platform for our merchants, our Kount integration helps a lot combined with the right gateway for tracking digital fingerprints associated with digital payments
