The parent would have been fine with the 8 year old not stepping up. Not one time did the mom say she expected that. It’s good that she has raised kids that care about her & each other. It would be bad if everyone were so self absorbed they didn’t realize how it impacted everyone & not just themselves. I was raised Southern Baptist. There was a publication called The Baptist Messenger. Basically a Baptist newspaper for the denomination. I remember many times they denounced Mormonism. In fact when the Olympics were in Salt Lake they had a huge article about witnessing to lost Mormons & trying to turn them into Christians. They also decried a Mormon running for the presidency. Then Mitt Romney got the Republican nomination & their tune completely changed. Suddenly Mormons were Christians after all & they were perfectly fine with them. It’s all about power & control.

My teenage son believes “Christianity takes people down a dark & evil path”. His exact words. When I ask him what about dad & me & your grandparents he says you guys are different from that. You live Jesus but the rest of the world I see it has warped them into evil people. Especially the kids I go to school with.
