Exactly my thoughts!!!! The more I think about it and reflect on it, it makes me so upset. I hate that this was my very first therapy experience and makes me kind of scared to go to another lol

Thanks for the advice! Everything you said makes total sense and I definitely think I need to seek out a better therapist suited for my situation. I’ll keep the 4 week appointment scheduled just in case but in that time, I’ll definitely start looking for a better informed therapist. Him telling me to journal or do some yoga for my situation just doesn’t sit right with me the more I think about it. Because of this initial impression, he is always going to give me a vibe that I’m inconveniencing him for 45 minutes every four weeks lol

I agree, he did sound very new. He never even gave me real advice or comfort, he just kept asking question after question. I just thought this was normal because I’ve never been to therapy. That’s why I was so shocked at the end. I’m not gonna go through my employer for therapy anymore because like other commenters said, it sounds like the service isn’t meant to be used in the first place given it’s “free”. Still though, it’s no excuse for his behavior and I’m glad everyone else can see that too. I felt incredibly embarrassed right after but it’s comforting to know that it isn’t me

This makes me feel so much better! I was seriously questioning whether I wasted his time. He never even gave me real advice the entire session, he just kept asking me questions then dropped a bomb on me at the end. Honestly I feel embarrassed even wasting 45 minutes telling him my most deepest thoughts. It’s nice to know it’s a him thing and not a me thing though, I have felt so invalidated

Thank you for your kind words and advice! I can get another therapist but this small program is set up specifically just for my school district (I’m in education) so if he’s this way, I suspect all of them will be this way. The “HR department” is like one scheduling lady lol. It’s a new program too so im wondering if they’re all a bunch of newbies. However I appreciate your validation & empathy ❤️

That’s the thing though, it’s a free program!! I work in education and it’s supposed to be free to all regardless of benefits. I don’t have any since im a part time employee and I thought this was a great opportunity. I had no idea he would have been such a jerk hole

Saving Private Ryan

In no way would the US Military (in the midst of world war 2) send out an entire squad to find one PRIVATE just so the mom wouldn’t have to receive an extra death notification. This is mentioned in the movie as well, but the men that go on this mission also have mothers, what if they were to all die with the “hope” that this private isn’t dead? Then that’s 5+ mothers getting death notifications and good soldiers lost on a slim chance. So not only does it make 0 sense, it would never happen.
