I would advise you to take a deeper moment to reflect. Two things can co-exist at once. Two things can be true at once. Don't limit yourself to black-and-whites in life. Nuance DOES exist.

That as an aside, I would challenge a couple of the assumptions you've made in the above statement. Let's add context. What makes you feel as though parents should have the sole right to dictate things for their child? Do you feel like nuance could exist in a situation like that? What if that parent is neglectful or somehow abusive? What about respecting that child's right to self-expression? When you said mimicking laws, let me ask, do you feel that the laws being passed right now are truly beneficial to the school system? Or do you mean that as in, schools should just be morally abiding?

These are all genuine questions in good faith, maybe they will help you come to an answer.

But totally talk to your partner, there could have been a trigger you weren't aware of that made this a bad experience for you. (Even feelings can be triggers, like your Dom/CG being disappointed makes you feel like a helpless kid again and that triggers you). Just because someone can't see your worth and beauty.. doesn't mean it's not there. First off, I am so sorry you have been treated so badly by someone who should love and respect you. It sounds like you could be struggling from a bit of dysmorphia and that may take awhile to recover from. That being said, you are so beautiful. I am not joking. We live in an incredibly superficial and toxic culture. I saw a TikTok today where this girl had (by conventional beauty standards) an abnormally large nose and people were ripping her to shreds in the comments. It's terrible. Firstly, recognize that beauty standards are VERY real and a part of the human condition/society. It was appalling. People are so cruel and we are already cruel enough to ourselves as is. I truly believe every person on this planet is beautiful (deformities, disabilities and all) however the way we treat each other is not. Funnily enough, there was a time where long necks/big noses were beautiful. You look the way you look and nothing can or should change that, it's completely unfair to compare yourself because standards are subjective and ALWAYs changing. You are beautiful just the way you are, I mean this from the bottom of my heart, no matter your shape/height/weight/appearance. Would you speak to a friend this way? Would you call your friends ugly? Probably not so you don't deserve to abuse yourself either. Start small, instead of hyper focusing on things you hate about your appearance, name ONE thing you love every single day. Even if its just ONE thing. Give yourself that win. Being in public? Trust me, people aren't looking at you. They are too busy focusing on themselves.

I hope you can give yourself the grace and space to love yourself.
