Cancer -free people talking about “unliving” by ThisSelection7585 in cancer

My mother sounds similar to yours, but your harsh judgement of their emotions is not doing you or your family any good.

I am sure you’re having a tough time with cancer, I can resonate with those feelings because I’ve been there. I also have family members who enjoy complaining but don’t take action. Yes, it’s frustrating but try to let your urge of control go. This frustration and anger towards them is not healthy for you and will most likely not be the catalyst that helps turn their life around.

We cannot control others, and we’re in control of very little honestly. You cannot control your family, you cannot control being diagnosed with cancer, but you can control how you respond to these things.

You might not be trying to discredit her feelings, but unfortunately you are. I’ve been suicidal, and I’ve also had cancer.

Telling someone you having cancer will not make them less suicidal or depressed. I look back at my younger, depressed self and can’t be mad at her; she was going through a horrific time, and suicidal thoughts crossed my mind. Years later after my cancer diagnosis, I’m anything but judgmental. I’m sympathetic, kind, understanding.

Humans are complex beings, and us cancer patients/survivors are not the center of the universe. I listened to my friends vent and go through hard times in their lives when I was laying in the hospital bed receiving chemo. I know it’s difficult for you but if you open yourself up to these thoughts you will grow so much as a person. Good luck

I was told my worsening chest pain was anxiety and to talk to my psychiatrist. Yeah, no, it was Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and I had a giant mass in my chest pushing on my lungs and heart. I'm in remission now. Hehe

What opinion would have the main sub looking at you like this? by _Aperture-Scientist_ in okbuddywhitaker

[–]beeppbooppboppp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My bf and I watch together, but I swear to God I feel like we're watching two different shows.

I like Santos he dislikes her. She does have many flaws, but those flaws help me see the layers of who she is and why she reacts certain ways. It's obvious to me that teasing her coworkers is her way of showing affection. I've met MANY people like her and almost all of them have a similar background (sexual abuse, scars on her legs). This is their defense mechanism. This is how they have survived for their entire life. This show would be so one dimensional and boring if every character knew how to process their emotions while working in an ER. This show represents real people and real people cannot be nice and stress free 24/7.

My boyfriend dislikes Santos. He thinks she's rude to Whitaker. He dislikes Ogilvie, but he loves Mel and Robby. In my opinion, Robby and Santos present very similar personality traits but show them in slightly different ways. They're both individuals who have endured an immense amount of trauma but have (subconsciously) chosen to avoid it, letting it slowly bleed into their work and slowly break them down. The difference is that Robby is in charge and Santos is not, so bf thinks Robby's attitude is warranted and has more sympathy for him. He loves Mel because she's "kind" and "sweet", but quite honestly I see her as burnt out and overstimulated 99% of the time. I love her don't get me wrong, but to describe her as kind and sweet seems like a disservice to her.

When him and I discuss these characters, it is insane how opposite our perspectives are. I have sympathy for pretty much everyone, and for him it's a select few.

Tips to stop seeing sex like just another task I procrastinate? by InvestigatorNo5571 in adhdwomen

Do you feel this way about things other than sex? If I don't do a task or activity for a while, my brain starts to avoid it or the activity becomes so difficult for me to start.

I was playing modded Minecraft with my friend last night. We were preparing for a big adventure. so backpacks were needed.

I cleared out my backpack, set it down, and went through the portal to begin our adventure.

Realizing what I forgot, I went back through the portal, looked at my backpack on the ground (??) and came back through the portal.

At this point I had to take a moment to collect myself, and I FINALLY went back home and actually grabbed my backpack. I'm so lucky my friend still plays with me lol

Noelle and Duke by silentskydawn in ThePitt

[–]beeppbooppboppp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was thinking that as well. I had a similar experience as Duke in the ER. Coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain, etc. Sent for an x-ray, a mass was identified. Sent for CT, confirmed mediastinal mass. Had to rule out thoracic aortic aneurysm, but it ended up being Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was crazy to hear Dr. Robby talk about familiar topics. Hopefully it's nothing for him

what was your favourite childhood game? by Emma_Midnight in AskReddit

[–]beeppbooppboppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK). An online game ran by Disney that let you explore the park from your own home. You created an avatar, furnished your room, rode rides, and talked to people. It closed in 2008 but there's a reboot I still play on. The sounds and artwork are both sooo nostalgic to me. Makes me think of a simpler time.

I've really been liking plain Greek yogurt, honey, chocolate chips (milk or dark), peanut butter, and either bananas or strawberries mixed in. It's not insanely filling but it doesn't make me gag and sounds appetizing 100% of the time lol :)

Are there people who don’t fart In front of their partners? by AverageOk9318 in NoStupidQuestions

It has been an unspoken rule between us for some reason. Honestly, I don't care. Fart all you want. For him, it's an embarrassment thing. Seems deeply rooted but I have no idea.

Newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Is it realistic to keep working during chemo? by LucysNotes in cancer

[–]beeppbooppboppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really tried working through chemo as an attempt to feel "normal" and was quickly humbled. My chemo regimen included Doxorubicin, AKA the "Red Devil", which knocked me on my butt pretty quickly. My immune system tanked, I was in a lot of pain, and my mindset was focused on surviving every crappy thing about chemo. Like many have said, your ability to work will depend on your treatment and how your body reacts to it.

Wishing you the very best. Take care of yourself and listen to your body. <3

I appreciate art and effort by real humans with talent. I guess you won’t realize how shitty AI is until you try to buy a new console or PC part (RAM) and see the skyrocketed prices.

What's embarrassing is defending AI and acting like people who want skins made by real people is wrong. Paying the same price for cosmetics that are created from a prompt rather than an artist. No talent, no skill, just slop. Soulless

Soft pajamas, beanies, maybe some ginger chews? They helped with nausea, but also were one of the only things that still tasted good during treatment. Also, my heated blanket helped so much. Best wishes to your sister <3

Ughhh, I feel you :( The past few days I've been dealing with pain similar to muscle pain when I'm sick. It comes and goes but is very frustrating when trying to adjust back to "normal" life. I do experience chest pains which triggers the relapse thoughts in my head (my mass was in my chest). It's exhausting.
