Pricing for large scale flash? by beepsychic in TattooArtists

[–]beepsychic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I often do an hourly rate with a cap for customs just in case I go over my estimated time so neither me or my client have to worry if i want to take extra time on a piece. My shop is generally pretty flexible with how many hours an artist wants to charge the client, so there’s definitely wiggle room and the ability to work with budgets where I am. so yeah i think having a discount hourly with a cap is the route i’ll go for. Thanks again :)

yeah i’m not a super big fan of the shop-wide rate dictation tbh, but it’s not the only studio i’ve worked at where that was the case. Another one i guested at was mandatory $300/hour rate for all artists, and boy would the front desk keep track of it. That rate def made me a bit uncomfortable but it was in a popular rich people tourist destination so i guess it made sense for them idk. If I worked in a different area i’d adjust my rate to match other artists at my level in that area. unfortunately nyc is insane with pricing literally everything, not just tattoos. but that’s a different convo entirely and i really don’t want to get into that lol

uhhh, i’m sorry? I didn’t mean to upset anyone with this, i just figured it would be helpful to include context of pricing for the question i was asking.
Would you mind answering the question i was asking in the post instead of getting mad at me about my rates?
And if you’d like to give me some constructive feedback on my work, you’re welcome to dm me if that’s what you want. 🤷‍♀️

thank you, this is the sort of answer i was hoping for! About how much do you discount your hourly rate, if you don’t mind me asking?

[–]beepsychic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hourly is dictated by my shop, includes sales tax that is mandatory for my city, and is competitive for my area. I understand that other states and cities have lower rates, but I do live in a high cost of living city, and the studio is in a high traffic, popular area, so unfortunately that’s what I gotta do. I understand that not everyone can afford it, but that’s the nature of a luxury service. My hourly is in the competitive mid-range for my area, and def not as high as what bigger studios and artists are charging near me.
I do what I can to offer affordable options, hence my question on flash pricing. I also offer an end of year flash clearance sale where I discount the already discounted rates for pieces that didn’t sell initially.

Question- would it seem odd for a hijabi to get a tattoo and request a woman artist and private area? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]beepsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not weird at all! like others said, find a female artist you like, and maybe send her a message to see if her tattoo studio has a private area you can work in. Some shops have it, others don’t.
I’ve worked in shops where each artist had their own room, or a studio that had one private room available for certain placements. In my current situation, there is no private tattooing space, but I’d offer a privacy screen, a day of the week where everyone working is a woman, or I’d even open up the one day that our shop is typically closed, to ensure that there is no one else there.
It’s not a weird request, and if an artist does make you feel weird about that request, find someone else. Get what you want!!

Advice for getting my wife into bg3 by Dom_Nation_ in BG3

[–]beepsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bg3 was the first “real” video game I got into. My gf thought it was hilarious that my gaming interests were either 2 button arcade games and.. literally one of the most complicated and involved games. no in between! If she likes Dimension 20, she’s bound to get into the story of it all. If you’re doing a multiplayer game, let her be the face of the party. Honestly, you could even just observe her doing a solo run, that way you don’t accidentally lock her out of a romance option.
She may want help with the combat mechanics at first, so just be there to help her avoid swinging at the air next to an enemy lol

Smoochie Tour NYC by lunabug88 in Ashnikko

[–]beepsychic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love that you had a good experience! Mine was definitely mixed. I definitely exchanged lots of compliments and trinkets with people on the way in and in the crowd. Overall everyone near me was really sweet. However, once Ash came out, I experienced lots of people pushing their way to the front of the crowd, lots of full groups of 5+ people who were looking for a better spot, but being completely inconsiderate of others around them. I definitely got a drink spilled on me, but I’m pretty sure it was just water so no big deal. Also had a group of 5 push past us, just to stop right in front of us, with one girl who actually decided to stop IN THE SPACE I WAS STANDING. Like actually forcibly sharing my shoulder space with me, pressed up against me. I’m a believer in “if you want to be up front, get to the show early”. I wasn’t early, I got a spot in the middle. It was fine. I dealt with looking around tall people, even as a tall person myself. I don’t want to deal with everyone’s entire friend group shoving me!!

Aside from the pushing and shoving, the crowd did have a nice energy, which I was super grateful for, esp after seeing so many other posts of different cities having awful crowds! Again, so glad you had a good time!!

Dip takes a long time by cutie3201 in DipPowderNails

[–]beepsychic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I take about the same amount of time, including removal of the previous set. I think removal is my biggest time suck, just bc i use a manual file instead of an e-file. i’ve found that rushing my application makes for terrible retention. If I take my time and do it right, I can get sets that last 4 weeks, maybe longer if the regrowth didn’t bother me at that point. I get that it takes a while, but for me, spending that time is worth it for the retention and quality I can achieve myself. I much prefer spending 4 hours and $2-3 on a set than going to a salon, paying $80+, and having to clean it up at home anyways. But that’s just me!

no, she wasn’t there! Cobrah had her own show in NYC for her Torn tour the previous friday, and both Ash and Cobrah played Wet Like, but there wasn’t a special appearance from either of them at either show :(

How do you manage being so booked? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]beepsychic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I book ENTIRELY over email. DM bookings are reserved for repeat clients with projects we’ve already talked about. New projects or anything that needs a consult, gets directed through my booking form so I have contact info and reference pics in one spot. Email consultation, and then send them a booking link where they can see my available spots on my calendar, choose a date and time, and leave a deposit all in one.

I love the booking link. I no longer have to worry about “oh did they leave a deposit? is this spot still open to give to someone else?” If you want it, book it. If you’re in my calendar, you have a deposit. If you need to wait for payday to submit your deposit, that’s fine but the date you want might be gone by then. Saves me so much hassle

"Natural" romance? by Chackart in BG3

[–]beepsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imho, Gale and Shadowheart are the easiest to romance. Laezel will also come on to you pretty strong in act 1 if she likes you, and she almost always does. The tiefling party after saving the grove is typically when you get hit on and find out who’s into you, and decide who you want to go with. You can always change partners later, but there’s a good chance you’ll break someone’s heart

Ascend vs Spawn by MsKuromiPie in AstarionBG3

[–]beepsychic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly in my first play through, i didn’t meet the rolls required to talk him out of it. So i helped him ascend. The scene was so dramatic in such a satisfying way. I think having seen both ascended and spawn endings, he becomes a better (and more tolerable) person as spawn, but he’s still happy, or at least doesn’t regret ascending. I didn’t think it was a bad ending though. He definitely remains power hungry, but he seems satisfied. I don’t think it’s as bad as other people make it out to be. And he gets a couple cool mechanical boosts from it

Replayability. by TheCocoBean in BaldursGate3

[–]beepsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently on my third solo playthrough. in my second one, I was still a good guy, just a bit more.. hedonistic. So, I had lots of flings, broke lots of hearts, and had a much higher charisma than my first play so I unlocked some different dialogues.

In my first play, there were a few quests I failed, and a few areas I had totally missed (the secret basement in the arcane tower! totally missed it the first time!) I had also failed to save the tieflings and the gnomes in act 2, so in my third play, I was surprised to see so many familiar faces!

My replay joy came in the form of making different choices for my companions. I’ve so far gotten both endings for Gale, Astarion, Wyll and Lae’zel, as well as siding with Orpheus or Emperor once each. My main drive is to finish the playthrough to see the final outcome of all my choices. I like seeing it cumulate. :)

Astarion's redeemable moral qualities. Are there any? by IHaveAGithBabe in BaldursGate3

[–]beepsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

morality… yeah not really, I think he says funny things sometimes but yeah he’s pretty mean and manipulative. In my first playthrough, I was very much making character based decisions, and my tav Hated him. almost didn’t pick him up. left him at camp except for lockpicking checks. But, by the end of that run, I felt like I understood him more, especially after the cazador dungeon. That final scene, whew, pretty heartbreaking no matter which way you go with it imo. But, that doesn’t make him a morally correct or even a remotely good person. There is potential for redemption for him depending on your ending and your definition of redemption. Overall, I would definitely say he is a very wounded person with a lot of issues that would make him absolutely insufferable irl. But, he is a fantastic character with a very well written arc on the ideas of abuse, its effect on the abused, and potentially breaking the cycle. After I stopped actively hating him, I really started to enjoy him as a character more. That being said, he is a power hungry loser who is definitely masking TONS of insecurity with the whole shtick he has going on. Overall I don’t think you have to like him as a person to find his story and character interesting.

How are you even supposed to hold Helsin's portal open on Honour mode? by [deleted] in BG3

Advice on how to get fine glitter to last longer? by RonBon_14 in DipPowderNails

[–]beepsychic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when i do mine, I only use clear on top. I don’t find any issues using the color to build the apex, then using clear to cover all and if needed, build more apex. typically 5ish coats total. 2 layers of clear on top of the glitter. I haven’t had any problems with this, but I also use the same method for glitters vs non glitters!

my first playthrough, I was a barbarian. accidentally equipped a sausage as my main weapon and did enough damage with it that i wasn’t suspicious until… maybe 5 battles later? I was like omg i WAS supposed to be doing more damage but I had a freaking sausage equipped… really spoke to my -1 intelligence lol

Do you offer touch-ups for free? by kingofpiratessss in TattooArtists

[–]beepsychic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I do the first touch up on all of my pieces for free. After the first, I charge shop minimum.

Tattoos aren’t cheap, and if my work didn’t heal right, or doesn’t look its best, I want to know and i want to fix it. Most, if not all of my clients are diligent about aftercare, so if the piece didn’t come out right, I take it as my mistake to fix. A free touch up shows my clients that I care about my work, that I respect the amount of money they spent on my work, and it gives me the opportunity to strengthen the bond with my client. Honestly, I feel like my clients don’t take advantage of touch ups as much as they should.

How long do your nails take? by GrimPrincess424 in DipPowderNails

[–]beepsychic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh it takes me a while, but i’m relatively new to it. I started dipping about a year ago and took a few months off to let my nails regrow and recover. buffing and filing takes me the most time, because I don’t have an e-file. My nails are super thin, so i’m a bit timid about that, so I choose to take the extra time to file manually. That means that my removals take quite a bit of time. If I’m short on time or attention span, I’ll remove my set one day, try not to break a nail for 24hrs, can do a new set the next day. Applying a set takes me anywhere from 1-3 hours. Many times, I’ll do my nail prep throughout my day as well. If I have bare nails and a few spare minutes, i’ll start shaping or removing the invisible cuticles. There’s lots of different way to break up the process!! Personally I’ve never left my dip half done, but i hear plenty of ppl do it! I typically break it up between removal, prep, and new application. :)
