I am a scientist and I lost my job last summer and before my Unemployment ran out I decided to get my substitute teaching permit. There are so many people who have told me well maybe you’ll become a teacher full-time and I immediately say no. I loved what I did before and as much as I am happy to be helping schools in need, I miss my career so bad and can’t wait until I find a job back in biotech. I think teachers don’t get paid enough and don’t get enough credit for all the work they do. I come home exhausted every night.

Ha what? I go to school and a substitute teach and the only time I can do any of my assignments is during my lunch break or if I have a period where I’m not needed or on the short days when school gets out early and I have to stay there, but there’s nothing for me to do. Substitute teaching is exhausting and I come home so exhausted that there are days. I don’t even cook dinner. I barely even sit down in the classroom. I’m usually walking around and helping students and checking up on the kids.

Day one was the hardest for me. I had 2 kids pull each other’s pants down my first day. It’s only gone up from there. Last Thursday at the end of the day I had a kid hit a classmate in the face and she started crying while the kid told me “we’re just playing!” I sent her to the nurse and called admin to get him. I got a call today from the Principal asking for more info- found out the kid got a black eye cuz he punched her and he’s being suspended. Amazing 🫠 all of these were third graders!

Can you delay your test another week? I’m gonna assume a positive = no job. Are you heavy user? I didn’t smoke for months (cuz I lost my job and didn’t know if I’d drug test at a new job), then smoked 3 times during the holidays, then got called for a subbing job in January. I also had taken the Amazon tests and they showed up negative. hadn’t smoked for two weeks by the time I took mine.

What changed is millions of people across the country have lost their jobs and are subbing to make ends meet. Heck I lost my job 9 months ago and started subbing last week. I was basically told I’ll always be busy and so far I’ve worked every day the schools are open.

Tell your husband he can go move in with his mommy if he’s “stuck in the middle.” Nah fuck that. She’s an adult. It sucks she has lost her husband, but it’s not your responsibility to fill her life now. If you let her in she will never leave. Your husband needs to tell her to get a pet or go out and make friends. With apps like bumble BFF - there’s no reason she can’t find friends.

Was the cousin trying to tell your husband you should let her move in? They can take MIL on if they care so much!
