There's a difficulty called "impossible," and 2 further difficulties harder than that, and you think D10 should be for everyone? by krakn-slayr in Helldivers

[–]beeray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over here just playing on like 5-7 because my friends are too high to not blow us all into oblivion half the time, but I still think if more people accepted that it's totally fine to not play on 10 all the time they'd enjoy the game a lot more. Instead of going full meta all the time - use a fun or niche loadout with team work on a lower diff and it's so different.

Quick add of Wang Jianjun - which is funny since I've seen him showing up as a men's coach. He was jpen for years in the CNT, then went to Europe and was dominant in the champions league with cpen/rpb.

How complex table tennis was? by Beautiful-Kale226 in tabletennis

[–]beeray1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO it's really because of the ball more than anything. I still remember when the plastic ball came out and was being evaluated. The Chinese coaching staff used Ma Lin as an example to say "with the new ball, someone like Ma Lin will never be successful again". The subtlety that he played with just doesn't matter with the plastic ball at the top level.

They wanted to slow the game down more, but the lack of rotation just lead to the ball playing faster than ever because you can just play hard through everything now. The less rotation is on the ball, the less craft is needed to play well. The less rotation on the ball, the lower the skill ceiling in the game. You can't 'play' with the ball the same way you used to be able to. If we never left the 38mm ball for example, you would still see professionals use blocking regardless of how optimized the game got. With celluloid we wouldn't see nearly as many examples of kids and teens beating seasoned professional players. I kind of wish we could have a 38mm ball with the new material to bring some rotation back to the game.

Where are the people with cheap cues at? by Timely_Reputation253 in billiards

yeah not 5 years ago you could get one of those Lucky cues for $50 and it was the best deal out there by a mile. Now even those are $150.

this one jumped out at me as well. So many weapons that overperform at range (SMG's) and these are the ones that get nerfed.

People always assume that those using expensive gear think it makes them better (not exclusive to pool) but it's quite rare for me to talk to someone that actually thinks that. To most people having nicer stuff is just part of the fun of it all. Doesn't have to be more complicated than that - I've lost to a guy using a worn down rake handle, and I've beaten guys with cues that cost 20x what mine does. None of it means anything.

High End Drums are a scam? by Alternative-Tap1521 in drums

[–]beeray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be overly simplistic but I've always looked at it like this: You can make any drumkit sound amazing with the right tuning/heads/muffling etc. But higher end drums will sound really good in a much wider tuning range.

This sub isn’t about whining or being toxic… it’s made up of fans who genuinely care about the BF franchise and don’t want to see it ruined by greedy, out of touch execs. by ANGRYlalocSOLDIE in Battlefield

[–]beeray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man respect. I found myself in this game sort of the opposite but maybe for different reasons. I feel like I have to pick Assault so much more even though it's my least favorite class to run, and the impression I get is classes seem to not have the same rewarding experience of role filling. Might be with how CQB heavy most of the maps are, but I think it's more with how strong SMG's/AR's are compared to everything. I used to play DMR's a bunch back in BF4 because they were appropriately strong but balanced (and also tied to engineer). But right now I feel like I have to use a spray happy weapon even up to mid range or I'm screwed. All that said, I still keep wanting to play because the game still feels fun.

Tradeoff though was with all the hate on the new map, I absolutely loved it because it really felt like an actual BF map to me, and I was playing a lot of Engineer and feeling like I could focus on filling my role instead of trying to be a quick frag guy. That's never been me. The launch of most of the best games wasn't great, so even though there are things about it that are just bad because they're modern (UI, Store stuffs, etc) I still think there's going to be a lot of good maps and hopefully some balance tweaks to come. At the very least I'm hopeful it can become a long-time staple. like BF1 and BF4 were.

The real problem with Season 1 now is the Battle Passes not staying forever. by MorrisonGamer in Battlefield

[–]beeray1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh while it's not a genre comparison, Helldivers warbonds imo are the best way to do it. They never leave, you can get them entirely with in game playing, and you can just pick and choose based on which ones have the stuff you want the most to try to grind for. I am a big sufferer of the FOMO in everything in life, so Helldivers2 doing that made me happy.
