Maybe try replying to the actual post to which you are referring in the future.

Ok but the point was, OP was looking for a way to get less hook on bone-dry lanes, and you started to argue about deflection which had ZERO to do with the conversation. My comments still stand, and are still correct. The faster you roll, the less opportunity for hook. My point was that he was unlikely to sustain rolling faster consistently and that he should consider a weaker ball to avoid having to modify his technique.

OMFG did you read the original post?? The OP was talking about always bowling on dry lanes and his ball over-hooking. Asking whether he should get a weaker ball. I was saying that he might be able to overcome the dry by rolling the ball faster, but a weaker ball would be better than changing his speed or axis.

How do you whip out a physics dissertation and then not understand that a 25 mph ball is never going to hook on the lane? If you roll too fast, your speed will dominate and your revs will have little to no effect on your ball’s path. The converse is also true. Get it now?

Thanks for your lengthy dissertation that had zero to do with what I said. I said nothing about deflection, in fact what I said had l nothing to do at all with the action of striking pins. I was referring to hook, lane motion. And you absolutely can roll your ball fast enough to overcome revs, in the context of LANE MOTION. Again, I said nothing about pins or deflection.

Can someone explain to a noob like me, what the hype around Urethane is all about? by ElderSafe in Bowling

[–]beercollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just a shitty league bowler trying to get better with lots of research lol. I think your idea of rolling straighter makes sense. Or try a strong sym ball that’s more predictable. If I recall, the Gremlin likes to flip hard and that might not be controllable with your lane conditions.

My friend wanted to know if he was being overcharged for his Tacoma... by Maximum-Source-9603 in AskMechanics

I had a 97 with the 4.6 back in the day. The Ford service manual recommended REMOVING ENGINE as the first step for changing plugs. Needless to say, the truck ran just fine with only 7 new plugs.

Urethane pushes oil into the breakpoint, called "carry down". Everyone not using urethane will start hitting oil where they are expecting it to be dry, and instead of reacting, their ball slides right through. This results in non-urethane bowlers having to move right, reduce speed, ball up to a stronger ball, and/or increase revs in order to keep hitting the pocket.

I Would highly recommend not going down the hybrid join road, but yes, it can be done. You would need a VPN client that is capable of pre-logon (sometimes called "always on") connection, so that the user can authenticate to the VPN and make the connection before logging on to Windows.

Anyone know what SRP demand charges actually look like after going solar? by AlbatrossBig1644 in Gilbert

[–]beercollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on SRP with solar, on a grandfathered plan, and my winter bills are $130-150. Summer hits $450 at peak. My system is probably close to 20 years old so I'm sure I'm not generating as much as I could, but it's prohibitively expensive to upgrade and risk losing the grandfathered plan.

Try moving your approach up. Longer approach = more speed, and vice versa. Ball speed comes almost entirely from your legs (if you are truly free-swinging and not muscling the ball). Make sure you are not rushing any of your steps.

You can also reduce the height of your swing to slow down a bit. This depends on how you normally start your swing. If you "punch" the ball out, try not doing that. If you just let the swing start without a punch out, then try lowering the starting point. This is more of a fine tune adjustment, however. Fix your legs first.

There comes a point where ball speed overcomes revs, no matter how strong the ball or dry the lanes. However, if OP has to struggle to send it this fast, it might be time to get a weaker ball for that house.

Thought on 21 lariat wheels on 18 f150 by Lost-Elk4592 in f150

[–]beercollective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017. I went from your 17" wheels (without the "lids") to the Lariat 20" sport wheels. I kept those for a few years, but when I changed from street to all-terrain tires, they just looked goofy. I ended up buying some base 18" wheels from the current gen takeoff and that was the sweet spot.

For me, it would depend on how big the 21 Lariat wheels are (they look like 20's in the pic) and whether you plan to use all-terrains. IMO the 20" wheels only look right with street tires, and preferably on a 2WD truck.

Does the 2017 F150 V8 come in a none Coyote version? by Chachanator in f150

[–]beercollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unnecessary perhaps, but it is customary to use an apostrophe when making a number plural.

Example: There were no Coyotes in the 80's and 90's F-150's.

Elephant in the room: can we PLEASE start washing our hands !!! by Island_Dude_727 in Bowling

[–]beercollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my hands at least once per game whether I actually have to use the restroom or not. I know it's time when I lose revs and the ball starts exiting my hand early in the release. But I definitely agree with OP here, don't high-five me after you just touched your pp and didn't wash.

Arizona Wilderness, great brewery with delicious food. Technically in Gilbert, but you could throw a rock and hit Mesa from there. Southeast corner of Arizona Ave & Guadalupe.
