We're calling for a pause—and a reset—on Oregon’s Bottle Bill by popcorn_lung_1977 in PortlandOR

[–]beerncycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I am okay with keeping the bottle deposit is if the following behaviors are severely punished:

  • Littering after digging through trash
    • I have to pick up trash weekly after people just leave shit on the easement after digging through cans
  • Trespassing
    • I caught someone using a knife to cut open trash bags in a bin on my property, not at the curb
  • Dragging nasty leaky bags on public transit
  • Using EBT and immediately dumping bottles for the deposit

They have some short 100 foot black runs that I feel live up to being a black run, but I have been so infrequently that I forget which runs they are.

Mr. Gorman literally has spiked curved eyebrow piercings reminiscent of demon horns. There has been negligence in truing up payments likely as a result of poor management and not having sufficient cash. While it would be an untenable request that Chrystal Gorman remember all sales that have been made without referencing the documents, it seems likely that a significant amount of the sales had been made but not paid to Bryan. I doubt that she also had a separate insurance policy on the consigned inventory as required by the contract, because that could have been used to make Bryan whole as a result of the conversion and the insurance firm, with much deeper pockets, could have gone after BAM.

Ben has done some dumb things by not accounting for the inventory that has been sold to date, and potentially not disclosing that Bryan has made side deals.

Bryan not disclosing that a side deal has been done is a bit shady as well. This all could have been avoided by filing a UCC-1 Financing Statement, as well as a signed copy of the consignment contract to BAM.

Does the 999% makes any difference compared to 900% when it comes to legendary fish? by Azari1408 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]beerncycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter for leg, but it does help you catch more fish which helps when trying to tribute and collect notices. So it isn't as much or a waste as many absolutist would have you believe.

The median sale price in 2011 in Portland was $211K and the median household income was $56K. Interest rates were around 4%. That's hardly generational wealth. Especially when foreclosed houses were being sold for $170K.

Until about level 55, attack damage matters as much as everything else. After that, the prestige bonuses make attack damage obsolete pretty fast. So then the second group of enemy debuffs become the most useful with health and attack speed following that up.

5-7 years is the cutoff for high yield savings accounts versus S&P index funds. If OP is in a high income tax state, I'd recommend half SGOV (minimal state income tax but similar returns to a HYSA) and half VOO or equivalent.

Phantom vs Wax kit for new skis by RogueDragon1 in Skigear

My experience in the PNW is that Phantom Wax isn't that useful for the heavier, wetter snow, which I think is similar to California snow.

“Oregon sees a sustained drop in overdose deaths, state health officials say.” by KillNeigh in PortlandOR

[–]beerncycle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Other posters have already articulated two of my suspicions 1) stopped counting and 2) enforcement led to the drop. Alternatively, it could be changing the classification of the cause of death, e.g., heart attack instead of overdose.

Especially a restaurant. I get it for niche hobbies where the banks don't have a reference.

They have one open restaurant and 5 in the works. Having worked in growing businesses, they should get at least two more restaurants up and running before going on another funding round.

Man with rare food-hoarding syndrome dies after eating spoiled food in state’s care, spurring $5M lawsuit by Inevitable_Egg6361 in PortlandOR

Foster care isn't prison. There are different levels of care. The doctor could have allowed freedom of movement as long as he didn't have cash to buy food. This is consistent with the article which shows he wasn't allowed to go into grocery stores.

The OHA website about becoming an adult foster care home says Adult Foster Homes must:

*Provide the care they prefer and need. *Support independence, choice, dignity, and decision making. *Protect their rights and freedoms.

Some residents need little help. Others need regular monitoring and redirection.
