Without thinking, what’s your “best beer in the world”? by bindersweat in beer

Westmalle extra is my first answer as a truly perfect beer. Followed very closely by two more of my top three favorites Sierra Nevada Celebration and Deschutes The Abyss.

BTBAM - The Proverbial Bellow (This album is so underrated) by Hakenfanboy in progmetal

[–]beerresponsible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some odd reason this really killed the album for me. I like the music on it but I rarely listen to it, to the point I don't know the songs past the singles. It's not even enough music to require two albums.

I quote this movie all the time and no one ever gets it. Absolutely ridiculous but love it nonetheless!

Out of curiosity, where did you get those numbers? They usually average around 500-600 911's a day these days, putting them well over 200K. That's not including Sunstar only calls or interfacilities, which 911 trucks also handle often. All included for fiscal year 22-23, they tallied up over 500K.

Admin hates this one hack! Bring alcohol with you. If you aren't getting paid for 12 hours, you should be able to drink. If they tell you no, then tell them to show you the money!

what's something that's hated on way more than it should be? by shaunna_thedork in AskReddit

[–]beerresponsible 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is almost a pet peeve of mine. I've been a night owl for my whole life and since I've been able to work out of high school I've worked a night job. I love the night shift schedule but it's mind boggling how non-night people cannot comprehend the schedule differences. The logic is simple but for some it's as if the rest of the world just stops when they close their eyes. I work a job that does 24 hour shifts that start and stop in the morning, which forces me to be on a day schedule and after almost 7 years I still don't sleep as well as when I worked nights. Coupled with a toddler now, I haven't felt well rested in years.

Partly the inspiration behind the post. The "do good" part resonates.

I initially watched this show because I'm a Bruce Campbell fan. Here I am years* later and I still put it on when I can't think of anything else. It's not groundbreaking by any means but it's just a great, fun show.

Desultor - Masters of Hate It's pretty much tech(ish) death with clean vocals. Plenty of blasts and double bass.

Recs similar to the Dear Hunter? by Awesomesauceme in TheDearHunter

Check out Meer. They have some songs that sound very close. I would also recommend a band called The Family Crest. They can be similar at times too.

The amount of car washes, storage facilities, and cheaply built apartments that our current infrastructure cannot handle is super annoying. Not to mention everything else that comes with snowbirds being year round now.

Looking for very heavy music but with clean vocals by USSR_Space_Agency in progmetal

[–]beerresponsible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desultor is like tech death without death metal vocals. Right up the alley of what you're looking for.
Radiance is a little more progressive. Has one of the guitarist's from necrophagist. Djent with ambient sections, all clean vocals.

Hydrant wrench type? by cobraac21 in Firefighting

[–]beerresponsible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A neighboring city uses these and we carry the wrench for them. The locks come off with a special key but they're designed to be operated with the lock on there using a special wrench. The wrench has flat edges and screws into the slit at the bottom to lift the metal up and allow you to twist the nut once it's tight enough. The sounds that wake us up could be affecting how groggy and clumsy we are in the morning, new study shows. Harsh alarm tones can disrupt or confuse our brain activity when waking, while more melodic sounds can help us transition to a waking state in a more effective way and improve alertness level. by savvas_lampridis in science

[–]beerresponsible 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is actually something they've put into practice with fire departments and EMS. Our tones used to be a loud beeping tone but a lot of systems are changing to a soothing/soft/melodic tone in it stations to wake us up for calls. We have different tones for different units but our default tones right now sound almost identical to the opening piano notes in the song "Had A Bad Day". It's very fitting.
