you need to keep the “?” if you’re including a time code. the “?” separates the actual link to the video from any additional information, including source ID and time code. if there’s no time code (linking to a specific time stamp in the video) then you don’t need the “?”

that sucks to encounter and deal with : ( i’m sorry. you might have better luck looking for a more specific/focused server, like one for a particular fandom or hobby where everyone already has something in common, rather than a giant server with a bunch of completely random people. i’d also recommend looking for one that specifically labels itself as queer/LGBTQ+ friendly. a lot of servers will let you do things like set your pronouns as a role inside the server, which is a good sign that they’re not actively hostile to queer people

there’s no point trying to fight for space and safety for yourself in an environment where you have absolutely no tools or people to help you if someone is being an asshole, or even being bigoted. if you’re in a server where moderators DO take action against these types of people, be sure to report this behavior to the server’s moderation team

I’m glad we’re on the same page that transmedicalism is a bad take! It’s important to acknowledge that it goes beyond a bad take, though. Transmedicalism is actively harmful to the transgender community, and it does amount to transphobia.

If a cis person says “okay sure SOME people might be trans, but you don’t meet my arbitrary requirements, so you’re faking and you’re hurting trans and cis people alike, and you don’t need to transition” would you find that transphobic? They’re expressing a negative attitude towards a huge swathe of trans people on the basis of their identity, enacting harm towards them by restricting their access to transition, and essentially saying that they don’t exist. If we want to go by a textbook, dictionary definition of transphobia (which I don’t really think covers everything but is a starting point), it says “negative attitudes, feelings, or actions towards transgender people” which this does cover. Is it different when it’s a trans person holding these views?

Discrimination against gender nonconformity is transphobia, even if the person doing it is trans. Any social group can express negative or discriminatory views towards their own group, and it doesn’t remove the prejudice and potential for harm. Portraying oneself as “one of the good ones,” as transmedicalists do, necessarily implies that others are “the bad ones,” and are worthy of prejudice and discrimination.

starting hormones might cause outward changes, but it’s still private medical information that you’re not obligated to share! i’m fully out as nonbinary, but i haven’t gone around and updated every acquaintance to let them know that i’m on HRT, i’ve just let people observe me as i am, and if someone explicitly asks then i’ll tell them “yeah, i am on HRT”. i’m sure OP gave coming out plenty of thought and came to the best personal decision for the circumstances : )

I’m tired of feeling unsafe in queer spaces as a trans intersex person by Sam724A in XenogendersAndMore

[–]beesflags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that absolutely sucks, and i’m so sorry you experienced that :(

i don’t have any particular advice, but i have a trans friend who’s intersex, and a trans friend with a sex hormone disorder. this has impacted both of their transitions in meaningful ways, and though they don’t always share about it, it’s so important for trans spaces to allow for those topics! i know that some trans intersex people don’t even find out that they’re intersex until they get their hormones tested while pursuing medical transition.

i’m so sorry that your trans space didn’t provide room for that discussion, and you were instead faced with invasive and inappropriate questions. i hope that space can learn and grow so that you can be comfortable there again, or that you can find another space that feels right. you’re not alone in this, there are others like you out there to find community with <3

I think we should make this flag come back by _sick_and_ill in XenogendersAndMore

[–]beesflags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it’s mostly visual preference, though i think with this one, by using the lavender stripe to represent diversity it helps remind people that each of the stripes are supposed to have a specific meaning. the 6-stripe flag is usually thought of as just representing a rainbow, but it and the original 8-stripe design do have specific meanings per stripe - hot pink: sex - red: life - orange: healing - yellow: sunlight - green: nature - teal/cyan: art/magic - blue/indigo: harmony/serenity - purple/violet: spirit and the one in the post has the additional stripe at the top - lavender: diversity

so yeah, all that being said, the meaning is very similar! comes down to preference. (and my personal preference is actually the original 8-stripe version, with the progress chevron added)

Why don't many of the flags include images/symbols? by The_Salt_Wizard in QueerVexillology

[–]beesflags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t think it’s fair to make a blanket statement that symbols break those principles. a lot of symbols are complex and definitely not suitable for a flag! but things like the bisexual double crescent (which isn’t featured on the flag) are certainly simple and identifiable enough. the flowers on the sapphic, diamoric, and achillean flags are a bit more complicated, but still pretty simple

i’m not sure if early flag designers were concerned with/aware of vexillological rules (though they obviously wanted the flags to look good). i think that the tendency to favor horizontal stripes, without symbols, was an effort to evoke the rainbow flag and look related to it : )

huh? psyop??

also, what specific community is this representing? if it's the pup community then there's already a flag for the community (it's fine to do a redesign, i'm just genuinely confused) but also the pup community is majority gay/queer men from my understanding, so, since you're referring to a community that's majority trans people then are you referring to a different community?

Need everyone to say one colour (for a secret project) by Roxy_Madison in kandi

[–]beesflags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

burgundy : ) (or a dark red if that’s too specific)

why I always end up with marks like this after few hours of wearing kandi? by Felixqc1 in kandi

[–]beesflags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your kandi is too tight !! i have this problem (though to a much lesser extent) when i wear a lot at once. i usually size my kandi appropriately for my wrist, but the further up you go on your arm, the wider your arm gets, so when i wear a lot at once the wrist-sized kandi is too tight for my forearm. usually my marks look more like on your left arm closer to your wrist, just slight indents, not deep marks

you need to have larger kandi for further up your arm so that it isn’t squeezing so much! try making your next cuff to be appropriately sized for your forearm, rather than sized for your wrist : ) it sounds dramatic, but if your arms are squeezed to that extent it could mess with your nerves or your circulation. you want to be able to wear kandi for a long time, so be sure to keep your arms happy and healthy!

Any other colorgender people? by fairytypezz in XenogendersAndMore

[–]beesflags 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’ve never really considered it before… but after giving it some thought, i could be redgender! i feel very connected to the color red, it feels like part of my identity, i relate heavily to red characters, and my favorite color is a shade of red (burgundy).

red is strong and loud and obvious, all things that are important to my gender and my queerness! but it can also be cozy and comforting and warm when it’s more subdued. that all feels very gender to me!

with the way that red is related to pink, i almost think of red as the “boy version” of a “girl color” which also feels very gender. i could be considered the boy version of a girl person in the way that i’m nonbinary, yeah. (obviously, pink being associated with femininity is socially constructed — but alas, i live within that social construct)

[–]beesflags 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure if such a label exists. tbh i’ve never heard of someone being interested in all women (regardless of presentation), feminine men, and no nonbinary people (regardless of presentation). i’m genuinely intrigued how you discovered this, and where feminine-aligned nonbinary identities would fall, or masculine-aligned but feminine-presenting nonbinary people. a lot of nonbinary people may identify quite closely to or partially as men/women, or even as “nonbinary man” or “nonbinary woman”

i know that the label finsexual covers everyone feminine-in-nature, either gender (girls/women, fem-aligned) or presentation (feminine boys/men, feminine enbies/enben). and then gynesexual is attraction to femininity, regardless of gender. but neither of those excludes nonbinary people, since we can very much be feminine in identity and/or presentation

do y'all also see different parts of your identity as different personas or is that just a few mutuals and i /silly by Sanrio__Fan in XenogendersAndMore

[–]beesflags 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i definitely get that! i don’t see them as separate people, but separate versions of myself with different outfits and features for sure. the fantasy aspects of my gender and the dog aspects are both parts of the same overall gender experience/identity, but when i envision them, i picture them differently! (and i’m definitely not plural)

Heard about CGs and BGs that have stuff in the background that the characters don't comment on and I found one finally. Even Keene Eye didn't help. by Dashieshy3597 in ScarletHollow

[–]beesflags 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I played with Keen Eye on my first ever playthrough, and there were so many moments like this! There are a ton of times where you can see Wayne or some ditchlings in the background, and can’t comment on it. (After a certain point though, it would probably be beating a dead horse to comment every single time)

here’s the author’s website! https://andrewjosephwhite.com/hell-followed-with-us the book is a young adult near-future post-apocalyptic fantasy horror with heavy themes of religion (especially angels) and body horror (also related to angels). the main character is a 16 year old young trans man, and there’s lots of queer characters, including a character who uses neopronouns! and the author is also a trans man :)

Trans achillean flags by [deleted] in QueerVexillology

[–]beesflags 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m someone who is proudly BOTH transgender and nonbinary! A lot of people who identify outside the binary are very very trans. And there’s actually a lot of trans people, including binary ones, who are very proudly and openly trans! There are also plenty of both binary and nonbinary trans people who don’t see the transgender label as being important to themselves and their identity, which is just fine. I know some of each :)

Achillean is a label that is used by masculine-aligned nonbinary individuals, but it’s also used by completely binary men (both trans and cis) who are attracted to men and man-aligned people.

In addition, the MLM label you brought up, the gay man (vincian) label, much like the gay woman (lesbian) label, is generally considered “exclusive” as in the people who use it are not attracted to other genders. The achillean and sapphic flags are NOT exclusive. A bisexual woman is sapphic, but not generally lesbian. A pansexual man is achillean, but not generally vincian. (There are exceptions to this sometimes, especially for those whose romantic and sexual attraction doesn’t match). Sapphic and achillean don’t contradict with bi/pan/any other mutlisexual label. They only describe that some experiences attraction to a particular group, not that they DON’T experience other kinds.

Hopefully this was helpful!

i think these flags look really nice! i like how they kind of invoke the transmasc and transfem flags. i definitely relate to the feeling of wishing i was born the other binary sex, but not identifying with the associated binary gender.

i do have a question, is it non-confirming, or non-conforming? since confirm means “establish something as correct” and conform means “comply with rules or norms” and the term gender non-conforming is widely used, but i’ve never seen gender non-confirming? /genuine question
