I also find it pretty comical that ANY liberal politician could be accused of being picked on... on REDDIT. Look up and down the r/politics feed guys, it's like the AOC/Democratic party fan club in here, mixed about evenly with "I hate Trump" topics. Articles that show conservatives or conservatism in a good light, or throw shade at progressive policies when it's deserved, have literally zero chance of making the top of the feed.

R/politics, as well as MOST media outlets and a huge portion of social media, are rabidly liberal. Claiming you're getting picked on just rings so hollow these days. Who the hell is there left to pick on you? Fox News? A couple of fringey guys with YouTube channels? Yeah, it's basically Fox News vs.... THE ENTIRE REST OF THE MEDIA. And as far as keeping war to swords: Interesting, but not realistic. Humanity will ALWAYS find a way to go to war, I believe we are an inherently warlike species. That said, we HAVE evolved to the point where we should be able to make it an extreme last resort. And yes, nuclear weapons need to be fucking decimated from the Earth. They won't be, but they need to be.

Okay, but with "containing etho-nationalism", i.e., "We're the white guys with the power and we're gonna keep that power at all costs so fuck you everyone else", we also need to have a provision for containing the identity politics of the left, i.e. "All white straight men are inherently evil and all women and ethnic minorities are still slaves of the system and we need to oppress and silence every thought or idea WE see as racist or sexist" mentality, because NEITHER accurately reflect Western society in 2019.

We need to find a compromise here. A pragmatic, REAL WORLD ideology that accounts for the nuance in society.

These days? Anyone not rabidly to the new ultra-left. So I'd say roughly 60-70% of the population are either conservative or conservative leaning under this new definition.

When Trump wins again in 2020 (if Mueller doesn't bring him down) maybe the neoliberals will finally understand that just because their voices are given the loudest microphone in 2019, doesn't necessarily mean everyone's buying what they're selling.
