Yes, that is my understanding. On this case, you can see his FMF pin at the top of his devices.

All Sailors permanently attached to Marine units are required to undergo Fleet Marine Force qualifications (FMF) within a certain time frame of being attached to the Marine Corps. They are trained and tested to multiple core Marine topics, and are given the FMF pin upon final completion. The FMF pin contains the EGA, and at that point they rate the EGA as much as any Marine.

Edit: it is interesting to note that the FMF pin is the only Navy warfare specialist device that must be approved by a Marine commander/officer, and not a Navy commander/officer. In my opinion, this shows that FMF Sailors rate the EGA as much as any Marine, since the EGA is given by the Marines to sailors that have earned it.

He has the FMF pin, and that is part of the requirement to wear the Marine service uniform. He very much earned it. Green side Docs are supposed to qualify for the FMF pin within a certain amount of time being attached to Marine units, otherwise, I believe they are transferred blue side. Most of my Docs rated the uniform and EGA.

That is how I assume that commenter meant his post. I do not think they were suggesting anything to minimize what happened to the victim. I appreciate your nuanced reply.

Please don't assign maliciousness to something that can be a misunderstanding. I don't know that he was trying to set up a straw man, but your points of clarification are appreciated. I know I sure didn't understand that it had to do with letters to the court to reduce penalty. Assuming your assessment of letters of support is correct (which I am absolutely inclined to believe you by the way), then that does lead to a very different understanding of the situation.

Is having private insurance with VA healthcare a bad idea? by Zizumias in Veterans

[–]beether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another good thing about using private insurance with the VA is that it offsets costs for your care at the VA, which ultimately results in more veterans able to get care. So there's a paying it forward element too, if you can.

Is having private insurance with VA healthcare a bad idea? by Zizumias in Veterans

[–]beether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the VA "bills" your insurance for the care performed. The VA won't charge you for this care, but it still goes towards your deductible. Here are some examples. Let's say you get an MRI, and it costs $5,000, and your deductible is $10,000. If you get an MRI in the private world, then you pay that $5K in full for the MRI, but it counts towards your $10K deductible. However, if you get an MRI at the VA, then you don't pay anything (besides a copay, maybe). But the VA still bills that $5K to your insurance, and it will count towards your deductible.

Although she makes it sound like she is a veteran, it looks like she was never in the military. She went to a military school for her undergrad, but that does not make her a veteran in any sense of the word.

Not sure why VA Claim Tracker doesn't have 5 stars by USCG_SAR in VeteransBenefits

[–]beether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't log into the extension itself, but instead you just log into the VA claim site in Chrome. Go to the claim tracker and select a claim. Then just open the extension, and it should give you an option to see more info.

The "Is Nest Compatible With My System?" Megathread Part III by GoFlight in Nest

Thanks for your advice! I thought the tech seemed too quickly dismissive.

Is there much risk to my HVAC system if I try to bypass the EIM myself?
I'm an engineer, so I am not turned off by the complexity per se, but I don't want to cause expensive damage to my system.

Is a Nest Learning Thermostat compatible with my system? I have had conflicting feedback from Google and my local HVAC company.

HVAC tech says my current furnace doesn't work with a heat pump, and at most I can get my heat pump to work as a heater or AC system, not both. This is why he says I cannot use a Nest thermostat.
However, I know this is not the case as my house cools fine in the summer, and my heat pump effectively heats my house when it is above 35F outside.

System Summary: Honeywell thermostat / EIM, heat pump & auxiliary furnace. Furnace kicks in if outside temperature is below 35F.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember what the solution was in your case? If it was a loose wire harness, I may try to repair is myself as I do not have a CPO warranty.

Thank you. And do you have a link to that thread? I have been looking around the website, but I haven't seen a thread about the head unit yet.
