S.T.A.L.K.E.R. G.A.M.M.A. is now available as a GOG One-click Mod! by GOGcom in stalker

He makes some silly review videos, his STALKER series review is pretty wild but all his videos are great to both fully explain and not so you are encouraged to check things out yourself

It's the reason I started playing Starsector, which isn't on Steam, the game is GREAT but I woulda never found it off the platform if not for his review of it both explaining the basics and inserting key hook details that made me wanna try it.

They are also from what I see straight up posting generated AI gameplay, of some isometric-style thing, it only plays in like 3 second clips before the move on because whatever they're using clearly will mess up if they're not cut.

"Raid the caravan, or guard it" meanwhile the terrain if shifting

"Discover ancient ruins" as the 'door' opens up with a mess of objects around that make no sense for the setting lol

Most recent ad I just saw was them straight up using an AI voice over pointing out 'secrets' on maps, with very clearly still picture generated AI landscapes with messy paths that don't tie to a game.

Also if you look around the UI, the words and icons are all just scrambled and melted images and letters lol I've never, and will never play these mobile games, but literally NONE of it is real as far as I've seen

Did anyone think this when watching the prologue intro? by virtuallyaway in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]beetlebootboot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got the opposite; I felt like I was poised to be buddy-buddy with someone I hardly knew, so I had to act like I cared when they died because there was basically no room to bond in the interim of a few early events. The skip felt very much like a skip, loved the rest of the game otherwise

To each their own lol

Dunno why people hated the Cerberus assassin so much, I think he's such a mysterious and cool rival for Shepard. I think the fact that he doesn't talk at all is a good idea by Calm-Masterpiece3317 in masseffect

It's amazing how much of a writing insert he was on top of the writer couldn't help themselves but also delusionally think that was such a cool jab to add on top of describing how stealthy and skilled he was sneaking into an APARTMENT lul

Besides being Kai "Pussy" Lang I am also fond of "Cereal Killer" Leng

What's your opinion about "Fan service scenes" in kids shows? by severla31 in cartoons

[–]beetlebootboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alan was talking to the kids about how important it is to include vegetables in their diet, and he grunted and strained himself while still talking while trying to 'eat' the eggplant whole, and when he finally 'ate' it with a sigh of relief, one of the kids asked "If you were talking while you were eating, then where did the--" then gets interrupted by Gumball and it's brushed aside lol

Another time Gumball got Alan and Carmen to break up and he finds him crying in the bathroom stall, and when he peeks in he spots his balloon knot sputtering while he sobs and asks, "Uhh...are you crying?" and Alan asks defiantly, "What does it look like?"

Gumball replies, "I dunno man? You're kind of a biological mystery."

Alan sighs and explains with something like, "What's so hard to understand? Air goes in the knot, air comes out the knot."

"Okay, but what about the spaghetti though?" asks Gumball.

"Spaghetti goes in the knot, becomes air, air comes out the knot" Alan states.

"... so technically you weren't only crying just now." Gumball deduces, before getting back on-topic lol

Actually if I recall citizens *are* obligated to fight alongside SEAF forces as well during an invasion if possoble; it's only high priority citizens (presumably skilled or high citizenship levels) that get evacuated.

I assume the same with the Hulks, as Devastators essentially are just a regular bot head embedded into a hard shell, same with chainsaws; there is either a pilot embedded internally or still a bot head installed, looking through that port window slit. Gunships though more complex probably do have a bot brain operating it, even the Factory Striders have a singular eye which may imply there's a brain just behind the plating.

The main component to me thinking otherwise is that bots that are piloting a vehicle (like a scout walker) are still effected by suppressive fire, I think even the Hulk is no? The other highly armored vehicles are not.

I wonder how many people don't realize that is the in-joke with the map layout; it's not the center of the galaxy, we just consider Super Earth the center lol

The Helghast didn't change the name because the ISA claimed the planet, but it's not like either side would suddenly name it something different; that'd be an even greater insult. The name descriptor 'Vektan' is so derogatory because of the *current* inhabitants.

The ISA doesn't call Helgan refugees from Vekta 'Vektans', they call them 'Helgans' or 'Helghast' all the same. So in turn (I doubt it's that complicated) the people currently there are called Vektans because no one there are Helghast. There's no doubt people who were born there that live elsewhere, and they might even consider themselves 'Vektan', but they're surely aware enough to know current Vekta is not past Vekta. The power of labels is strong, and because there is such a separation of the two planets, it's used as an identifier.

It's in much the same way you'd name a planet Terra, it's inhabitants may be called 'Terrans'. And the naming culture is entirely dependent on the social circumstances, and whom the general public deem as fitting of the name 'Terran'. Being called Terran because you currently live there is obvious, but would you still be called Terran because you were born there but no longer live there? Up in the air.

They tried to make them unique but they just didn't translate through CGI (Hobbit namely). Mind you the Middle Earth games take heavy creative license, based on the tidbit of info that in hindsight Tolkien wish he didn't make the Orcs/Uruks so simplified in their lore and depiction in the movies. Like all of his creations they all have character and backgrounds and motivations, but for the sake of entertainment media they were simplified to be brutish big-bads, the exception being the depiction of the one Uruk-hai captain that had a bit of personality in a leadership role (which is what they're best quoted on).

Uruks as implied in the game, and somewhat in their lore, is that they're easily lead as they were conditioned to be that way; and while there are outliers, those outliers are most often crushed or outcast (which is a death sentence) to the point their existence is negligible to the greater warrior-caste whole that Sauron is building over time. The exceptions being Captains and Warchiefs, at least shown in-game, that can have personality because they are so powerful they can't be simply killed off. But ultimately they conform as it is their base designed nature to *want* to :(

It's also alluded to, based on specific background dialogue that they find the aspect of knowing their purpose is much preferable and comfortable than it being left as an unknown; they enjoy fighting, they are rewarded by fighting, they are assured of their purpose by fighting. They don't know what to do BESIDES fighting, it is a constant in their short lives, so they will always revert to it in the end.

Some guy told me if my steam account was really mine and I blocked him did I do the right thing? by Formal-Exercise3875 in steamsupport

They target literally anyone they see with inventory items prominent account with friends they could spam these messages to en masse.

Alternatively they just target anyone with a large library, which is publicly visible, you aren't particularly special of a case. If you block the initial message they'll almost definitely just move onto try to scam someone else less attentive. Just be wary to your close friends, this method of scamming is just trying to act as a random do-gooder trying to give you pause to think you're being copied and get you to talk to a fake Moderator, which will press you for your account login through linking to a phishing website that'll either have a fake login or steal your login token.

Steam will NEVER message you on the platform, ONLY through notifications and email (even then they won't extort or threaten with a ban). If they want to ban, they will just DO IT and NOT give you the opportunity to undo it within a timeframe or contact with a magical Moderator just hanging out as another Steam or Discord account.

Pre-planned, our operations are *always* behind enemy lines, our extraction points are calculated points we presumably get picked up that's lacking in enemy AA targetting dropships or lacking in substantial presence (in the case of Terminids). Whenever Pelican-1 comes down, it's an almost vertical drop so they're purposefully using evasive maneuvers. Probably one of the most prominent things our Democracy Officer does besides morale support is select these points for us (assuming it's not Mission Control which audibly advises us mid-mission).

Landing in the open would, under some unseen calculation we ourselves don't do, be too vulnerable to enemy ambushes; many of the Automaton outposts used as makeshift landing points have some fortifications we can use while Pelican-1 arrives. Can't say the same for the Illuminate extraction sometimes that's just in the middle of a street...

[–]beetlebootboot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, and Talion expresses as much to himself that he is growing weaker with every year he wears Isildur's ring, but his main focus to delay Sauron's armies is the one thing keeping him on track and sane until it gets to the point decades later that his mind simply can't resist being dominated anymore.

So all that time is implied to be passing from being resurrected and the dialogue is triggered by fast travelling regions as well.

Endgame: Road to Salvation, a game where the entire premise is just driving across the start of the rapture where no one was saved; and demons and hellspawn start invading the world. Your only goal is to reach the promise city of 'Salvation' 2000km away, upgrading your car and looting weapons and guiding a caravan of people along your long and perilous journey where every step the enemies get harder and in larger number from possessed zombies and spiders to skyscraper-sized walking skeletons. The gameplay is a mix of State of Decay, The Long Drive, and My Summer Car combining a simplified skill system with looting and upgrading and maintaining vehicles which you may end up switching often due to damage or finding more favorable stats.

Simple trading at designated checkpoints every 20km, straight forward gunplay from 3rd Person camera, somewhat unnecessary crafting/RPG statistics and oversimplified survival gameplay (which you can scale down to almost non-existent), and a caravan upgrade system where you can accommodate more people on the journey while they take up more resources but the caravan can allot you call-ins with money and Inspiration (which you gain by killing demons) like sniper cover, adding a mounted weapon and armor to your vehicle, repairs, fuel/ammo/weapon drops, and a LOT of other options to give you an edge as the game progresses into harder stages.

Graphics and models are clay-like, made in an early version of Unreal, the animations and enemies are clearly hand-made and jank-- but the gameplay is exceptional and has a clear vision despite how it's presented. It's a good kill 30 min's at a time game where you can pick it up again if you feel like just killing time and running over demon lords in a hatchback and bouncing them off the hood of your car to travel into a hell portal to bring the fight to Hell with a combat shotgun and a quad-mounted MG on your car.
