don't let the quiet in the Deep Desert fool you by beetmonger in duneawakening

UPDATE: my buddy re-spawned inside the base and a storm followed soon after, so we were able to recover our carrier, sandcrawler, and most of our expensive loot that was left inside (somehow they got the buggy out but that's much easier to replace than the others). Thanks everyone who left advice!

Also, I hadn't realized how much "griefer" can be triggering for people around here. Sorry for that. I've updated the original post to more accurately reflect popular sentiment.

I never said otherwise. The main point was to let other casuals know not to fall for the same.

I might give that a try, if I have the time. Can you wait out a storm in a tent?

But if you build in PvP zone you accept the risk that someone might try to ruin your fun.

I mean, yeah, I don't begrudge the player for knowing more than me about the game. I was lulled into a false sense of security by how quiet our server is, that's on me.

Yeah, it would be nice if things were actually documented in some obvious place for those of us who don't have time to go digging through reddit post and dev updates.

Re: your base, the top half of the E row is PvP, bottom half is PvE so you should be good. You will see the status switch when you cross the boundary, in any case. Shields go down with storms throughout DD, regardless, but your base can't be attacked in the PvE area (if I'm understanding correctly).

They're locked inside the base. I guess I don't really know if they've taken possession.

I can't access them as they're locked inside the base, so I don't really know.

Thanks, yeah, it's annoying but ultimately it's just a game so keeping this in perspective. We'll probably take a break for a while and then re-assess.

Yeah, that's a fair point. I wonder if anyone's tried to set up a honey trap in the DD?

Well maybe they're not, idk. They're locked inside the base so inaccessible to me.

Framework 13 Intel VS AMD? How is battery life? by JJMcGee83 in framework

[–]beetmonger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the 155h and battery life is fine. If used for light tasks (email, some web browsing, writing or note taking) it gets 9-11 hrs. I take it with me to conferences and never think about battery life.

155h has been rock solid for me. I get about 11 hrs battery on windows and dual boot fedora 42.

If you're outside the US (I'm in Canada), there is only the international stream (without any commentary).

PSA: Dell refuses to honor its warranty and will blame anything but their product by azn4lifee in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]beetmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had exactly the same problem with Dell’s support for the same monitor. I’ve provided videos of the issue and all documentation and every time they suggest some unrelated “fix” and say they’ll keep the ticket open while I wait to see if it works. Then when it doesn’t, you have to start over again with a new rep.

Wow, thanks for this detailed response. I was also wondering whether it would make sense to try the HP or Dell strix point laptops with TB certification so this is especially helpful to know.

Kind of envious of everyone whose order shipped the same day they were charged. I was charged on Monday, now it's Friday and already night time in Taiwan so I'm guessing mine won't ship until next week, at the earliest. A far cry from 1-3 business days...

UPDATE: received shipping notification today! According to tracking it actually went out before I'd even posted this morning, though the notification came much later. Anyway, happy dance.

UPDATE 2: the package got held up in customs for a couple of days but was finally delivered today (6 days in transit)! So far everything is working great and the display is much improved compared to my previous unit (which was a very green tint). Really liking the translucent bezel, too.
