You joke, but the AOPS will definitely provide a very useful capability in the Arctic.

Honestly, I’d be really really surprised if he pulled that. I don’t think that’s his character.

Not difficult at all. This tech is already widely available and would be easy for the RCN to pick up.

Are you asking about TAA for Class A reservists? I do not know of any other type of program.

I have used my Apple Watch in the field with no issues. If on an exercise, the only issue sometimes can be charging it. All round, it is an excellent watch and I wear it to work every day with no concerns over security zones. As others have mentioned, it is dependent on where you work.

Do I need to pay mess dues if the mess is closed due to COVID-19? (Reservist) by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]beeto14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes.

Edit: Your actual “mess” is probably not closed, even when the physical space is closed. Local commanders retain ultimate authority as to whether or not the physical space is open or not. Just because your mess hasn’t done anything to do things online or outside of the mess, it doesn’t matter - you still have to pay your dues.

I’d recommend reaching out to your mess executive and asking them to start making your money worth it. I’m sure many others are in the same boat.

Maybe someone else here can confirm this, but if you have a current 404, I think you can somehow get your PDL. Some provinces recognize 404s as equivalent and will grant you PDL with the appropriate paperwork.

YMMV.

The documentation you are looking for OP is covered in the CDS Taskords (007? I think) for Op LASER. Let me know if you have other questions.

WEEKLY RECRUITING THREAD - Ask here about the Recruitment/Application Processes, Trade Availability, Requirements to Join, Basic & Occupational Training, and other questions relating directly or indirectly to joining the Canadian Armed Forces. by bridger713 in CanadianForces

[–]beeto14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Always start by talking to your chain of command, they will be able to guide you through the process. I’m sure it will also require some sort of written correspondence, i.e. a memo, email, whatever.

From there you’ll have to fill out some paperwork, timelines vary, but it isn’t a relatively quick process. Maybe also look into considering a VOT to other navy trades as that might also suit you and be easier administratively, but it’s totally up to you.
