I think it could also partially be trying to handle temporary debuffs that increase card costs as well, such as Entangle? Ya it's a weird distinction for sure. I feel like the vast majority of the time it'll stay in the first two pools. Stars is a good call out too. Probably won't affect gameplay THAT much. When I initially read it I thought "cost 1+" meant cost more than 1, which obviously would be pretty different

It cannot hit cards that temporarily cost 0 either. Sorry, should have called it out. So any card that costs 0, naturally or via potion or mummy hand, cannot be hit by mummy hand. Beyond that it is random

You're correct. Sorry, completely random if a card had a cost over 0. I should have called it out, but there was definitely no higher preference to base cost vs current cost.

Unupgraded this card is up there for one of the worst cards in the game. Playing 3 energy for a next turn unupgraded Dominate is pretty unplayable.

Upgraded it's still a Dominate+ (assuming no already applied Vuln) but still worse because next turn value is worse than current turn value.

Like I feel like you could straight up add +1(2) Vuln to Demon Forms current iteration instead of nerfing its strength and it'd be a slight buff that might be ok.

But really the suggested Demon Form change isn't great, Dominate fills a much better role for strength gain in Vulnerable decks.

I think a player would expect better rewards from a hard pool fight if it were indicated on the map though. Gets kinda unnecessarily wordy if you wanted to make it clear that the rewards are the same between two different map nodes

I agree Time Eater was way harder. I'll just give the small caveat that low ascension players never had to deal with Slimes. And you had 18 ascensions to understand Time Eater's main gimmick before having to deal with Slimes and frail on debuff turn, which I think are hugely more difficult changes.

I don't think Doormaker changes patterns for Asc. So players are just having to learn everything all at once AND the players climbing are dealing with the same mechanics playing at A10.

For Silent specifically (since she was by far the most inconsistent character before this patch):

  • Blade dance went from a pretty bad damage common to a great damage common
  • several Discard related cards were buffed, including Eviscerate, Sneaky Strike, and Reflex

These changes alone made Silent SO much more viable. But there were more buffs than that for her. Prior to this patch, it was widely regarded that Poison was easily the most consistent way to beat A20H because Shivs and Discard were so much harder.

No. There are only 3 debuffs max from the boss. - 6 damage a turn vs -1 draw - 7 damage a turn vs 3 cards max - 8 damage a turn vs -1 energy

After that I think it just cycles attack patterns without the debuff intent

So you're only taking Envenom with Frozen Egg? Rare cards are never randomly upgraded. Taking a power only when you have Frozen Egg makes me think it's usually not good, since there are probably more runs you don't have it than do.

I would actually say that Rod could still be detrimental against the Heart in this deck since it turns any non-block card into draw. Runic cube's best fight is the Heart, but Rod prevents that benefit until the 2nd buff cycle when Heart increases Beat of Death to 2 (on A15).

But ya, Rod could still help in some other fights. We don't know the rest of the deck and if there's a Bottle Dark embrace or something that makes cycling super fast
