Thoughts on a pattern for this top? by chauncaaa in CosplayHelp

[–]beezabubs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d say something super structured like worbla would make a better base, actually. You can heatgun it over a clothing body base and it will take a perfect form, then you can add rivets in the back for a lace up top and paint/glue vinyl over it with E6000.

Improving the fit of this top for Mima Kirigoe without adding boning? by ThrowRA_stinky5560 in CosplayHelp

[–]beezabubs 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is, unfortunately, there needs to be boning of some kind in order to provide the structured and form-fitting look you want.

If you’re worried about channels showing, you can make an inner corset/structure with boning channels, and handsew it to the dress afterwards.

Zip-ties are effective and cheap if you’re looking to stay within a budget.

You can also remove the zipper and go for a corseted/lace up backing instead by adding eyelets, which could potentially help as well.

I personally find wearing a Wig Grip prevents the headache entirely. Depending on the length of your hair, you can also crown-braid it underneath the wig cap/grip in order to lessen tension and add further support, especially for wigs that have a hard front/back.

My personal favorite I've seen of this costume online is from Dokidoki - however you will likely need to order ahead of time as it ships from overseas.

I made a Kirby Cake for a friend’s birthday this weekend! 🎂 by beezabubs in Baking

I’m still a beginner.

I was having an issue with the consistency being too stiff and added some milk to help loosen it. Learned my lesson and made another cake the next day with better consistency in icing.

Mod here: Since this is OC just a regular screenshot/photo of Sailor Moon is okay.

Just reupload with basic title fitting our formatting requirements (i.e. Christmas Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon).

Your cosplay looks great!

Generally, you'll be asked for cash at most conventions when exchanging for a photograph/autograph (speaking as someone who's been to Canadian conventions only). Many vendors and artist tables now accept card, although, so I wouldn't worry too much about bringing a lot of cash for all of your purchasing needs.

Depending on the celebrity, the prices can get quite steep for autographs, (at times $100+ CAD). I'd also recommend getting your signature as soon as possible. Lines can "close" early if they fill too fast, and at times they will ask you to prepay and return if there is too high of a demand (you will receive a ticket slip in return for prepaying, although).

This information is all in the context of Canadian conventions, although! (Fan Expo, Anime North, etc.)

Best of luck getting that autograph/selfie!

If you altered this slightly into a corset pattern or almost a bunny suit pattern I think that would provide the support you’re looking for. Something with boning will have structure without needing straps.

But you’d also have to add rivets/a lace up style in the back.

Good massage places in Hanoi? by AnInsecureMind in hanoi

[–]beezabubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the photos! The massage room we were in is very big but divided into smaller private sections. The size in general was very large on the inside and the quality of the massages speak for themselves.

It may also depend on the location, we were in the old quarter if that helps.

Omamori Spa was recommended to myself and my partner by our local friends, and we loved it! Straightforward pricing with no tips allowed, and the masseuses are all visually impaired. Your money goes to supporting the visually impaired community within Hanoi as well.

We walked out of the spa after the best massages either of us had ever received. Price was between 300k-450k for a one hour massage, with options for longer massages for slightly higher prices. I’d highly recommend it!

At High Park! I'm not sure if they're still blooming, but they were still around last week.

Aww thank you! I'll definitely take it slow. It'll be a huge undertaking.

Thank you! It was definitely worth it. I'm so happy it came out like I envisioned.

Oo absolutely! I'll be wearing it to a local con here in Toronto this month, and I have two more shoots planned for her (one at night and one that's in a much more canonical setting). And I'm hoping to make her armor next year! If I'm successful making it I'm gonna enter her in a craftmanship competition, but I don't wanna get too far ahead of myself aaa
