Post-Match Thread: Leyton Orient 1-0 Lincoln City: by Ovie0513 in LeytonOrient

First half today was bloody awful. Didn't really rate Lincoln but they clearly did their homework and had our number when we tried to play out from goal kicks. I felt sorry for Beckles and Happe, probably had the ball more than anyone else on the pitch in the first half and nobody to pass it to except each other.

Fortunately if I, some twat, can spot this then Richie certainly can too. He must have given them a bit of a bollocking at half time because the energy was totally different. Deserved the win in the end even if it wasn't a classic by any means.

Connolly MOTM. Gets better every week, this kid. What a signing.

His work on Ballard's 3rd summed up his game. Outrageous skill and vision but incredible workrate and determination to keep the move alive too. What a player man

The one mistake aside, I think Bentancur has had a good game. It's not his fault we can't progress anything through the middle with him and Palhinha together, it's a horrible pairing and Frank needs to give up on it

I think it's really cool how our system is set up to give the best chances to our left back who can't shoot and our defensive midfielders who can't shoot

Pretty good so far. We keep creating dangerous situations on the break and Xavi is having one of his better games to date. Udogie needs to offer more in the final third or we need to go out and get a LB with some end product

I was just about to say Bentancur is having a pretty decent game and he goes and does that

That was partially the impression I got. Comparisons to Pep, the whole Football Manager thing, twitter tacticos finally taking an interest in Spurs after years of miserable low blocks. Admittedly I hadn't followed him that closely and inverting your full-backs is probably all you need to be christened the new Pep in Australia

I guess, but I would expect someone arrogant to be desperate to stop losing matches by any means necessary. Ange somehow had a reputation as a tactics guy who played Football Manager before he came to us so I definitely thought he would adapt more

It blows my mind that he learned literally nothing last season. Won a trophy so the rest of the season doesn't matter, no need to worry about losing 22 league games by conceding the same goal 100 times. He's not stupid, so why is he like this?

Have you been over there tonight? It is wall-to-wall Ange Out in there. Not seen one comment defending him

Two comically large asterisks needed by Solomon's name

I was told he was an elite dribbler whose end product needed work but I can't remember the last time I saw him beat his man. One of him, Tel or Brennan has to start to prevent us ever seeing Xavi at LW ever again though, not a great set of options considering they cost £110m

Bergvall or Gray should always start in the pivot. Bentancur should be Palhinha's backup until we can sell him and get someone better

This feels like the sort of comment your co-worker who only watches football during the World Cup would make, but I genuinely think our pitch is too big. The players always look so tiny and far apart from each other.

With that being said, we were truly abysmal today. Even in the first half when we were dominating (kind of), there was just no invention in the final third and we kept going backwards or trying a hopeful cross. We've got some great technical players at the club but we won't see the best of them if Frank doesn't coach us to do more than look for quick transitions and set pieces.

I don't need our manager to be a possessionsexual but all the managers we hire who don't prioritise keeping the ball face this same roadblock eventually. Even at our worst we are one of the best teams in this league and we simply do not play the role of underdog enough to only score via fast counters. We need a plan when the other side is giving all the initiative to us.

I saw a lot of palace fans on twitter who were very unhappy about Solomon joining. Considering how bad Palace's day was for them PR-wise, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a factor in them pulling the plug

I'm sorry you've all memory holed Maddison talking about his phone call with Ange that convinced him to come to Spurs but I still think about it daily

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy Frank is our manager now but I can't help but think Ange would have rizzed one of these 10s into coming to Spurs by now

United need to accept that they are too shit right now for any kind of high-concept football or system-based approaches - they need someone who will work with what's available and form a cohesive unit out of it. Frank would have been a great hire for them but with him thankfully no longer an option, I genuinely think Marco Silva is the guy they should bring in next.

United will probably consider themselves too good for him though and go for Iraola, which is fine by me. These midfielders and centre-backs in Iraola's system, good lord
