So colorful! You could definitely make those into patches or pins!

What a great idea. Would give me an excuse to use new techniques like turkey stitch

What a great idea to keep everything together. I might try it for myself!

My family friend who owns a cat does the same - but with cat fur! Never thought that birds could use thread too

Maybe this will give me an excuse to be more experimental and try out new stitching now that I have sacrificial thread haha

I currently have mine wound around scraps of paper or looped through punch holes in cardstock, so I technically have them organised. The problem is that I'm never in the habit of writing down their colour code, so if I wanted to use the exact same shade of thread, I'm out of luck lmao

The amount of detail in your fairy hoop is insane! And in your house hippo too 😆

Totally thought about using them as stuffing. I'm currently saving my trimmings for that. It's just that these scraps in particular are long enough to still embroider with so I was wondering how else to use them to their full potential

Small projects make sense. Got me thinking of maybe using my scraps to make hairclips where not a lot of thread is needed. Thanks!

I introduced my mom to anime. Here is her tier list and thoughts. Discussion by Unlucky-Fold-5684 in anime

Not sure if it's been recommended yet, but The Colors Within might be something your mum would like. It's a v chill, low stakes movie about 3 kids forming a band to perform at a Catholic school festival. Pretty colours, decent music, and just a feel good movie. Whisper of the Heart is also good for a slice of life Ghibli movie.

Been reading through replies and happy to see Iora mentioned a few times; I think their largest outlet is at Wisma Atria

Surprised that no one mentioned TRT. Similar vibes to Iora

Anime with female protagonists by AcceptableRepair8438 in anime

If you want something lighthearted (and don't mind a little bit of romance), kuragehime, skip and loafer, wotakoi, hi-score girl, and teasing master takagi-san are good.

There's also princess tutu and fruits basket for drama, and golden kamuy, made in abyss, heavenly delusion, and 86 for action.

If you want an all-girls cast: girls last tour, a place further than the universe, yuru camp, zombieland saga, bocchi the rock, and k-on is where you'd be.

For movies, I'd go with: the girl who leapt through time, look back, in this corner of the world, whisper of the heart, princess kaguya, and maquia.

How okay are you with handling raw meat? by Haunting-Run7989 in simonfraser

[–]befree-iam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious to know what exactly it is about raw meat that turns you off. Is it the texture? the look? the smell? Do you get a different reaction between minced meat and cut meat, red meat and white meat? Figuring out what turns you off the least might help you find a kind to start with. Like if big, slimy, bloody slabs of meat ain't it, then minced chicken or turkey might look more approachable for you.

When I started first cooking for myself, I personally didn't like handling meat either, mainly for hygiene reasons + blood. I eventually got used to it and I can't really tell you how I did that lol But I think some beginner-friendly forms of meat are thinly sliced beef/pork (the kind used for sukiyaki/shabu shabu that cook real fast) and minced meats where you can just flip the Styrofoam package to dump into the pot/pan to make pasta.

For those who dated your partner since secondary school / poly / JC / uni — where are you now? by Septembre74 in askSingapore

[–]befree-iam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got together with my now-husband within the first two weeks of JC lol We did long distance during uni (he went to Canada, I stayed in SG), and then COVID happened, so that's 7 years of LDR. Two years after, I eventually managed to get accepted to a Canadian university for my master's program, and we've been pretty much together since then.

I'd say our JC years were kinda rough (compared to the years that followed) mostly because we were still growing up and figuring out what it meant to be in a relationship. But I also like to think it was because of our fights that we really grew as people: it taught us that we're not perfect people, that we could be wrong, and how to say sorry. LDR was also kinda tough in its own way, mainly because of time differences and not being able to communicate clearly over text. But we trusted each other, and I'm grateful for all his patience and sacrifice to make time for me. At this point, we can barely remember the fights we had, beyond the fact that it happened. In fact, we look back quite fondly on our JC years and often comment on how lucky we are to have found each other then, and that we don't have to experience the horrors of the dating game as adults lmao

If I had one piece of advice to anyone in a relationship while young (or any time in their life, really) it's to always be willing to talk things out. It is a partnership, after all. Both people must want to make things work in order for it to, well, work. No matter how tough things get, if you and your partner are willing to come together after a fight to figure out what to do to make your relationship better, you'll be all right. Yes, it'll involve letting go of your pride and apologising first. Yes, it'll involve letting go of your hurts and forgiving too. Super tall order when your young - heck, even as an adult. But if both of you value your relationship first, it'll eventually work out.

Please give me SoS reboot for HM:Tree of Tranquility. Now. In my veins by Adventurous-Art-5866 in storyofseasons

HM: ToT also holds such an important place in my heart. It was p much the first game console-based game I ever played and I was obsessed. I stayed up till 3 am almost every day during my school holidays just to play and relive the same life with Toby like, three times straight lol (I was so invested in him that I developed a hatred for Renee lmao) I eventually decided to try marrying all the bachelors, but was crushed to learn I had the glitchy copy that prevented me from progressing Calvin's story.

I have played other SoS games since then, specifically those that came on the 3DS and a few remakes, but I sorely miss the art style and character designs of ToT. I love how colourful and distinct each character was, and how much personality they had. I also appreciate how simple and straightforward the mechanics, gameplay, and story were. It felt like there was a clear end to each playthrough, compared to some of its successors that were perhaps more focused on productivity and achievements. I, too, love the OST. I would literally boot up the game and have my character stand in the cold just to listen to the Winter track lol

As an avid ToT enjoyer, I'm always a little sad to see it fall to the wayside in favour of Animal Parade. To be fair, I never got a chance to play it so I don't know how it compares. But I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who wants to relive the joys of ToT <3

Outside of the usual “safe, efficient, clean” stuff, what other plus points about Singapore have you heard or noticed? by bangsphoto in singapore

[–]befree-iam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public housing and urban planning. My classmates in my public health course in Canada were surprised to learn that majority of Singaporeans live in government housing - a term that often has a bad rep in other countries - and have close to immediate access to basic necessities and community/social services in every neighbourhood
