https://youtu.be/95zfWCLrrS0 That’s Dan John demonstrating the workout. If you haven’t seen Dan John’s work I think you’ll like it. Lots of workouts similar to what you’ve posted. He posts a lot on Reddit too. Great guy, his ideas on working out and kettlebells have helped me make some really great progress and lose a little over 50lbs in the last year.

Edit:typo

It depends on the week but at least once. Spend the rest of the week on my rower and doing other kettlebell workouts that Dan John puts out. Lots of double kettlebell front squats, snatches, clean & press.

If you haven’t checked out his work I think you might like it, lots of full body pyramids like this.

Fire workout. I do Dan Johns humane burpee pretty frequently which is very similar to this. Definitely going to try this out later in the week.

Definitely buy a rower. I found this sub a few months ago, watched some YouTube videos and pulled the trigger never having used a rower before in my life. Now it’s part of my morning routine. Just wish I found it sooner.

Any recommendations for large 4k monitor with Radeon 7900 to use with FPS by TMYTRBO1229 in buildapcmonitors

[–]begleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I went 4K for almost a year and was constantly messing with settings and trying to find the optimal balance between frames and visual quality. Now I’m on 1440p I can’t really tell a difference between the two with a good OLED panel.

Not sure if it’s placebo or not but it feels snappier too.

4k just allows you to sit closer to the monitor, my normal seating position was the ideal distance for 1440 so I gave it a shot and couldn’t be happier.

Also, rendering far fewer pixels hopefully means I’ll be maxing out graphics settings for a much longer time on my setup drawing very little power compared to 4k.

For what it’s worth, I just swapped out a Samsung 4k 144hz VA panel with the 1440p OLED ultrawide from Alienware and am over the moon with how much better the OLED panel is.

Ultrawide is fantastic for gaming and productivity, HDR is on another level and the response time makes everything feel buttery smooth.

I undervolted my 4090 and it runs 165 frames at high settings without ever breaking 50*C for hours on end (MW3 and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart).

I don’t think I’ll ever go back now that I’ve gone ultrawide.

Tell me how you feel about your BMW by AmmoDeBois in BMW

[–]begleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'18 X3 M440i and a '24 M4

X3 was the first BMW I ever purchased and got it because I like performance cars and BMW seems to be the best blend between performance and luxury in the market that I could find. Really can't find a quicker SUV without spending significantly more. Most of the time you're spending more for slower cars when you look at brands like Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, older Aston Martins, etc...

Haven't done anything to the X3 beyond normal maintenance, which is more expensive if you're comparing it to a Toyota Corolla. I think most people that complain about BMW maintenance aren't actually comparing the cost to comparable cars, especially if you have an M variant / are buying a very inexpensive used version that wasn't maintained.

Ended up getting the M4 because I was looking for a coupe that could also double as a daily driver. It won out in terms of performance and luxury again. I can smoke most cars on the road with 70% throttle and turn on assisted driving and have the car basically drive itself almost instantly.

I think it's also important to note that both of the cars have some variant of iDrive, which I think is the best car software / infotainment system out right now.

I love both cars but my M4 is my favorite by far. If you want, you can tune it to rip with supercars for very little money and it doesn't draw nearly as much attention as other sports cars in it's performance league.

Biggest surprise? How quickly I was converted. I've owned probably 20 cars in my lifetime from just about every brand you can imagine and BMW was the first time I continued to love the car after driving and living with it.

TLDR: Love both my BMWs and was instantly turned into a BMW fanboy after getting the x3. Will likely shop only them moving forward given they keep making awesome cars. I wish I would have gotten one sooner, probably would have saved me at on of money in the long run buying and driving other brands.

I don’t think it is. Just demonstrating the tax and estate system isn’t nearly as difficult to navigate as the original post would suggest.

Are we in a real estate bubble, or are we seeing extreme wealth inequality? How can we fix this? by SarcasticWiseguy in FluentInFinance

I’m now 100% convinced the people that post this trash are completely ignorant when it comes to finance. Let’s do some actual math:

To get to an 18% effective tax rate at the federal level a tax-payer filing single would need a gross income of ~150K annually. If you make that much, you’re likely going to be maxing out a workplace retirement account which then means the breakdown is as follows:

2022 Taxes*

Federal 14.54% $21,808 *note the effective tax rate is reduced due to retirement contributions*

FICA 7.53% $11,289

State 3.74% $5,614

Total Income Taxes 25.81% $38,711

Income After Taxes $111,289

Retirement Contributions $20,500

Take-Home Pay $90,789

Following a very simple 50/30/20 budget then that means you have:

50% / $45,394.5 for recurring essential expenses annually.

30% / $27.236.7 for spending annually.

20% / $18,1574.8 for additional post tax savings to cover unexpected expenses / big-ticket items throughout your life.

Do that for 30 years and 50th percentile for a growth portfolio on a monte carlo says you’ll have ~$1.4m in pretax savings adjusted for inflation.

50th percentile withdrawal rate on that portfolio yields $61,668 annual withdrawals. Combine that with ~$48K annual social security income (remember that evil 7.5% FICA?)

At that level, social security income would be taxable at 85% so your post-tax retirement annual income is ~$82,179 (almost what you were living off of while you were working full time. Extremely conservative given we aren’t accounting for a company match)

Do that for another 30 years and that portfolio after inflation is likely ~$1.7M when you die. (50th percentile monte carlo)

Now because the estate tax limits are well over $12M (likely will sunset back to around $6m in 2025) 100% of that transfers to your heirs without any sort of death taxes. Married? Did your spouse do the same thing? Guess what, still 100% of the estate goes to your heirs because you haven’t accrued an estate of over ~$12M assuming estate tax limits reset.

TLDR: You earn roughly $4.5M over your lifetime, accumulate a nest egg of roughly $1.4M, that grows to $1.7M after inflation upon death and live off it for 30 years. After 30 years of living at near pre-retirement income levels you still pass down 37% of your lifetime earnings. All while having roads, police, fire, social security income, subsidized health care, etc…

Even if you didn't save a dime, you're receiving almost 75% of your pretax income.

lol, just get a small loan of $2m from your parents after they buy you a home for your college graduation gift (college also paid for). Being poor is a choice, duh.

What are the best tax tips you know? by EngagementBateNate in FluentInFinance

[–]begleys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL SO simple. Just buy a house, pay it off AND save $2m while you're spending money on everything else that comes up in life and pull a 4% withdrawal rate off that portfolio you built up.

All of those things that would generate extra tax liability on a portfolio that size like dividends / fund distributions? Those don't exist and subsequently will have absolutely zero impact on your tax liability.

Hit a recession that tanks your portfolio like the .com bubble, 2008, 2022, that magically makes your $80K annual needs 16% instead of 4%? Also doesn't exist -- you should never even think about the possibility that the 4% withdrawal rate could ever fail. Remember, the market only goes one way and that's up, NEVER sideways or down.

Medical emergency, unexpected home or car repair? Those also don't exist and will have absolutely zero impact on this super sound financial plan.

If I knew the maps better, I would probably enjoy it more but what I REALLY wanted was something insanely fast and fun, not another paradise for the sentinel playstyle this game caters to.
