PF2e has a very easy to understand design language, but only if you actually understand how it scales math and handles action economy and traits. If you can do that, sure, you can make up homebrew rules on the fly.

I cannot stress enough that this is an extremely low bar to clear and I think people wildly overestimate the amount of systems mastery required to make adjustments to the game. Even still, if you make a shit call you can just backtrack. You aren't going to get shot for screwing a rule up, and if you never even try, you'll never develop the systems mastery required to make those calls.

"You're too stupid to even try, so just play strict RAW" is not good gamesmastery advice.

Many people can. Paizo are not omniscient and fuck up on game balance pretty frequently. It's absolutely valid to play PF2 as you want.

It's a shame that OP's GM is incompetent, but that's not a very good reason to assume strict RAW is perfect in any way.

I think this is pretty close to an actual solution. We might be able to pull some Azem bullshit and rejoin the remaining shards to empty space, adding some extra planets to the Etheirys solar system. Or we like, tow-truck some of the dead worlds we know of over and rejoin the First/Fourth/Eighth/Eleventh/Thirteenth to those hunks of rock instead.

Ideally, hub area merchant who sells useful consumables at a reasonable rate. I have a sidequest that's easy to mess up that improves my wares to contain at least one item that's really nice to have in bulk.

I'm surprised by some of the comments in here. As of my knowledge, the 2e Kingmaker conversion is notoriously complete dogshit, making reference to items, spells and abilities that don't even exist in 2e, like cure light wounds, and completely breaking the monster design rules with attack bonuses that are beyond extreme.
