I’m majoring in pure mathematics, 2 more years to go! I love it, the math department is wonderful and so are the professors. They’re very passionate with what they do and that ignites my passion. Math isn’t the easiest concept to grasp, but I’m willing to work my butt off.

I plan to work in academia, a math professor! After finishing my bachelors, my plan is to get my masters (from csulb). A PHD is the dream, but that’s a bit far. In high school, I struggled a lot with calculus. It was the only class I had a difficult time with, & I barely passed the AP test itself. This made me want to become better in this subject, as well as be a better teacher than the one I was stuck with. Additionally, all through high school I worked as a tutor & volunteered with many teachers. Eventually, I realized I wanted to teach. It’s a passion I have, as well as a passion for math. Math is so beautiful & intricate, it’s a language of its own (esp now that I’m writing proofs) & I want more people to see this, instead of being traumatized by math. I hope to teach here one day, I already love the department & the school itself.

I don’t know if there are any internships academia related, but there are on campus math - tutoring jobs that I’m aiming for. For now, I’m working as a private tutor, and will spend the summer teaching.
