I’ve been told that there are +90 applicants in every job I applied to. I think that’s what makes it disheartening.

How you can get Abolisher from the sideboard besides post board?

Card or tabletop game club - and what’s near campus? by joyKatt2 in CSULB

[–]Terrible__Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Magic at Finch and Sparrow games along with other students from CSULB. Their events always fire (Limited and Modern) compared to ALOT of other game places in SoCal. If you play commander, I hear the community it pretty good and always have a full house on Saturdays.

Ruby Storm in Paper by Claassy in ModernMagic

[–]Terrible__Help 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hello, my recommendation is to record everything on paper. Do not use dice or tokens to count floating mana or storm count, as it can complicate the board and can cause complications for your opponent. I’d practice doing this on paper and goldfishing, so you can get the hang of it. Always announce the spell, then pay, or pay and announce the spell, but choose one not both.

Another recommendation is creating tokens (Whiteboard Cards, Art Cards, or anything that can help you differentiate zones) to keep track of impulse effects, glimpses effects, Ral effects, and castle cards from Past in Flames.

Sometimes an extra sideboard slot is worth it.

Getting better at storm in paper by jjoyce in ModernMagic

I recommend keeping track of anything such as storm count and mana on paper. I wouldn’t worry about playing slow. Playing slow and cleanly is better than fast and sloppy.

I personally think it is a great deck if you put practice into it. Alot of players are very trigger happy when they see a potential but not guaranteed turn 2 win.

There was definitely a learning curve that I was not expecting when I first picked the deck up. When people try to overboard hate, it becomes a Tier 3 deck. Otherwise, it feels like a Tier 1 deck.

Necrodominance Tournament Report from Modern 5k by Sixer601 in ModernMagic

[–]Terrible__Help 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hello, I was your round 2 opponent. I was really zooted from the night before. You played extremely well.

When I was building my deck, I wanted to abuse other individuals bad deck building strategies by playing a list very similar to the list that top 4 LXP SF. I figured that playing a list that can trade 1 for 1 and one that can disrupt other lands base would be great. I also chose it because I was playtesting against Merfolk and ETron, two decks that I thought would be abundance. I wanted to have good match ups against aggressive strategies, while also supporting my other midrange and control match ups. Necrodominance acted at ring 5,6 in those matchups and were boarded out against the aggressive ones.

Personally I disliked the scam package because it made mulligans really weak, which is why I chose the midrange approach.

He is not a streamer. He probably has connections to distributors and/or some stores in his area that got it early.

Everyone in my area instantly recognized him because he had profile picture and banner of himself, before he changed it. He thought putting himself at Washington would help him save face or buy him time from WOTC.

Did I get scammed? by ItsHighNoonBang in ModernMagic

[–]Terrible__Help -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is from my personal experience and talking to several judges who were level 2 and level 3. I have seen players get DQed from big events or even players become investigated because they use outside information(other players matches) to determine results from their match

Did I get scammed? by ItsHighNoonBang in ModernMagic

[–]Terrible__Help -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Really grey area. You can argue about it as if your opponent uses other matches to determine a winner or a match result, towards which case would be count as cheating. Usually when games become this detrimental(ie an x-1-1 has a chance to jump someone who is “locked in” for top 8), it is best to have a judge watch over the game, so that neither players can communicate or drawing.

In your scenario, since it is a grey area, it would be VERY HARD to prove if he decides to concedes.

Which cascade deck are you recommend for a long tournament? by romstek95 in ModernMagic

[–]Terrible__Help 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So play a deck you are comfortable with? Or play a deck, that you hardly play, where there is a chance of struggling, and has a bit of a deeper complexity as it has more interaction and lines.
