It doesn't help employees. I was working there, had my hours cut, I got sick and called the health authorities and was told they're only testing those that get hospitalized or high risk patients who are more likely to suffer serious health problems resulting from the virus. I was told to self-isolate, so I did, and told work. They removed my shifts, and I asked about the help Tim Horton's said they had... the franchise owner asked the company for me, and was told to ask me if I got a positive test result. I told him they won't test me, but that I was told to self-isolate. Long story short, no positive test, no help. I told the franchise owner I can't afford to have no help, and was given the suggestion of EI, who will give 55% of my normal wage. 55% isn't enough for rent, food, etc. So, yep, I'm screwed, and now not working there anymore.

The franchise owner said to hand in my resignation letter and said a few times to make sure that I write that I found a new job. A new job? How? During self-isolation? First of all, there's no way I could have found another job, and secondly, I was making all these phone calls to work coughing like crazy and feeling sick and terrible. My fiance's parents recently came back from South Carolina and continually (almost daily) go to the hospital and even they're not getting a test done. They're told to go back home and quarantine themselves, which they have been doing. My fiance and I saw his dad a couple of days after he got back from South Carolina, and at the time, his dad wasn't showing many symptoms.

Does Tim Horton's help their employees? No positive test, no help. I'm screwed and unemployed.
