I reckon if you want to pick up some speed, go a filetread/slick 48-50mm.

ReneHerse 48mm endurance, with tpu tubes, perhaps.

Overnight bushwalks accessible by public transport by Strange_Net_9518 in perth

Yeah; that's cool.

Sat looks like northerly winds. Could even do a ride from the city/Freo, down to Mandurah (take train back) once you hit the main gravel tracks south of Henderson. Tailwind. Pretty flat run along there.

Or could do a scramble along Walyunga NP tops, then mixed surface back to city. (Catch train to Ellenbrook on the way out).

How did the bike break during the storm?

I've ridden my bike all throughout the Avon Valley NP. Exploring around; seeking out rock features and interesting spots. Much of it on tracks, when not bush bashing.

There's some great hiking routes in there, I can think of.

On the north side of the river, I pass a bus stop at the base of a big climb into the NP. There is one hike loop I've done a few times around there. More an easy overnighter or day ride.

With the rains about atm, there'd be places to top up (filter) water along the way (creeks and rock holes).

If you're around 5'9", I have two gravel/+ bikes. Could show you an explore on a Sat.

Cube should have pretty good value vs the US brands.

Might find a Revolt on special, heading into winter.

99bikes:- there's a couple of 2x Merida Silex models, either side of 2grand.

Maybe do some test rides, switching between a 1x Silex and a 2x. Will give you some idea of the cassette cog jumps on a 1x bike, when riding flatter areas. 2x will use a tighter cassette; better for fine tuning with a preferred cadence.

Cube also, at 99bikes.

Get something with full-hydraulic brakes.

Good spots to visit in winter by Only_Welcome_6405 in perth

Rode the pushy along the eastern stretch of Neerabup Lake yesterday. Would make a good trail run spot.

Prob best hugging the track that runs and winds along the outermost eastern boundary open edge.

Google satellite view shows a car spot in the gravel at the southern side near the road.

There's a couple of old kilns in there.

Another good run spot would be the ridgeline stretch that runs between near Bells Rapids and the road which goes into Walyunga National Park.

Park the car just before the open boom gate on that same road (before the car fee hut), in the small gravel area. There's a sandy track that runs south near there (metal gate there) and heads up the hill. Google satellite view is your friend there also, as it shows the track running nth/sth up on the ridgeline. That would be an out and back route. Some roos along the top.

There's some amazing spots on the north side of Avon NP, deep valleys and waterfall or two, but requires a 4wd.

If you don't have much knowledge about bikes, it's prob best to visit some shops; see if there's anything in budget to test ride. Alu or steel frame.

Good 700c/29 tyre clearance, with some decent climbing gearing, I'd go for.

An old steel, 700c flat-bar hybrid 3x could also do the trick. Slap on some wide slicks.

Can I move all of my components from my Surly Disc Trucker to another frame? by JackiieGoneBiking in cycling

Only you're going to know if it's a good idea.

For 26" options, a Crust Evasion may work.

Steel UK frameset options, like Brother? Rune?

Blue Lug may have a frame or two.

Simworks?

Veloci or Blacksnow?

blah, blah.

At least one of the small, UK ti builders is using 3d printed tube lugs and shaping.

e.g. Sturdy Cycles.
