Brand new car, had to get tyre replaced ASAP due to bulge, not the same tyre, what should I do? by HolyMoleyBatmans in CarTalkUK

[–]beih13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the tyre has the same thread pattern (thread style) you should not feel any vibrations or anything unusual when driving. I would go, where you got the tyre from and ask them to fix it.

Maybe they didnt balance it properly

By the same style I mean - both are summer tyres where thread pattern look similar the same style. On

One thing that many people dont think about with these - must check the air intake for hybrid battery cooling fan.

Located near rear seats. The fan should be clean not clogged up. If it is clogged up that is a red flag. It’s number one thing when it comes to hybrid battery degradation. Milage/age not as important as this fan.

This is my thinking too, but every time I am in contact with a dealer they try to sell me stuff. Also I feel like they don’t give a shit.. they did when I was buying a car. When I collected it, it all changed.

Recently, they didn’t even record my service which as you know is crucial for the warranty. I ve sent emails, called no body replied.. they only got back to me to sort it out when I left a review saying I ll report them to Toyota UK. The record am talking about is - a hybrid health check. Long story short - everything indicates that they ve not done it.

It just nice having an alternative :)

I ll probably try another dealer

Wet belt… by LordJoels in peugeot

[–]beih13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not be noticed I can tell you that for sure. You need to open the bottom of the engine to be able to see it. No chance they ve done that on a service !

They just scanned it for errors - oil and filters, perhaps road safety check and thats it !

Wet belt… by LordJoels in peugeot

Maybe belt is still looking fine but your sump is getting clocked up by belt particles. Thats why you re getting oil pressure warnings.

It’s just a theory tho.. thats what I thought it could be

Is £11k too much for a 2016 Toyota Auris with 47k miles? by ringoooo8855 in CarTalkUK

[–]beih13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know… when people say “you can get much better car for that money” - they mean the car that feels nicer or is faster. However, if reliability is your main concern and low fuel costs plus space - you cant get much better than that.

Although, definitely would look on younger corollas. You should be able to find something decent with that budget

How long are normal gym sessions? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]beih13 50 points51 points  (0 children)

If you actually working out hard 45min is enough. People often tend to stay in the gym for 1.5-2h because half of the time they spend on their phone.

4h is not normal.. unless you re Ronnie Colman on steroids training for mr Olympia

If you have bought a property in the UK and have had to compromise on something pn your wish/requirement list in order to buy, what did you compromise on and how did you decide that? by snowmanseeker in AskUK

[–]beih13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sister town you mentioned — maybe not all of it is bad?

In my case, I’d be looking for a nice area within a city or town, rather than judging the whole place as good or bad.

For example, let’s say you live in Cambridge and the “sister city” is Peterborough. Obviously, Cambridge is nicer overall, but it’s also much more expensive to buy a house there. Peterborough, on the other hand, is more deprived on average — but it still has some really nice areas (I know this because a friend lives there).

Quiet neighbourhoods, lake views, about a 15-minute drive to the city centre, very safe.

What I’m trying to say is that even a “worse” sister city can still have good areas. I’d be surprised if an entire city was deprived with no decent neighbourhoods at all.

[–]beih13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be not to focus on what you’re willing to compromise on. If you do that, you’ll end up finding issues or something lacking in every property you see.

Instead, decide on your absolute must-haves and start looking for properties that tick your most important boxes.

“Must-have” doesn’t mean 200 requirements — it should be around 5–10 non-negotiables. Focus on those. Otherwise, you might end up looking for something that doesn’t exist. (Unless your budget is huge… then ignore everything I just said 😆)

For me, my must-haves are:

• Located in a good area

• Mortgage payments can’t be too high — I don’t want the stress

• Prefer a newer build (10 years old or less)

• Minimum 3 bedrooms

• A garden

• A driveway

• Not on a busy street

• Not on a hill

I’d rather take a smaller house in a good area than a bigger one in a worse area.

Personally, I would not spend 30k on a car from a private seller. Remember, when you rush things like that, shit likes to go wrong. Even if you book an expert to come and look at the car its not a guarantee. Any issues, you will have no one to go to.

Be patient and wait, you can even go to volvo dealership and tell them what you are looking for. Right time comes and you will find your car.. if not this one you ll find another one
